What to do with my brake calipers?

I wanted some input on what to do with my brake calipers until I dive in and get a BBK? I just put the StopTech sport kit on and the calipers are an eye sore. I was thinking about some g2 black caliper paint and then maybe some Wilwood aluminium covers for the front? If it looks lame I'll just stick with the paint and be out a few bucks.....

Sorry for the dirty car... I'm a long way from home and someone else is watching the car for me

Doing a proper painting job is easy and looks great.
I did calipers on my MK3 & MK4 Jetta and they were awesome when mounted:

Yeah, don't get covers...

Caliper Covers = Rice

You have that nice car and you put caliper covers on them. Unbelievable. Paint them if you can't afford a BBK right now and of course, ask yourself if you really need a BBK. Most people who only drive on the street DO NOT need a BBK. Quite a bit of cash to spend just for looks!

A BBK is not high on my priority list right now, nor is painting the calipers. The covers are a simple way of dressing up that area until I get the real deal. I am working on other areas of the car right now. Once I get the other things out of the way, I will concentrate on the bigger brakes.

I agree, my covers cost the price of a paint kit, installed in 30mins. always look great, never need to have the paint touched up and get plenty of compliments

No need to touch up caliper paint.

Please don't get caliper covers. You've done a great job as it is with the new rotors.

TIA

Yep, you can easily clean, prep, mask-off, and apply the paint (usually brushed-on is better) within a full morning.

Thanks!
I need to look into this.
Little Wing needs a touch of red, I think.
Red shoes.

AGREED, plus they sometimes come loose and make noise.

If your going to do something use a ceramic paint on them, that way it will last longer than just regular paint. but make sure you clean them really well

That's how I did mine, I just taped them off, used brake cleaner then scrubbed them. I painted the calipers with a paint brush and they turned out great with two coats. I used special caliper paint, dries fast too.

I've already been to Way Motor Works and didn't see caliper paint there...

Tirerack.com has G2 caliper paint kits for $38
Autozone has Dupli-color ceramic paint kits for $19.99

The quantities seem the same.
Is there any reason to pay almost twice as much for the G2?

Do you have any close up shot of your painted calipers?

G2 caliper paint. Easy job, dries fast, looks great, wears well.

Alright.... so no caliper covers... no problem. So I'm thinking black caliper paint to help them fade into the back. I like red but all the factory calipers I've seen painted red look like garbage. I would maybe go for silver or chrome as well, anything to get ride of the stained pot metal look.

Has anyone painted their calipers... layed down, say a "MINI" decal and then did high heat gloss paint over the caliper again? Would this end poorly?

Good point about the red.
It's not like I want to call attention to my stock calipers.

I'm not as talented as CR&PW&JB.
Since I'm a klutz, probably don't want to call attention to my paint job either.

The sticker idea is cool; would certainly end badly for me.
YMMV
