Looking for a advice/opinions

Hi all,

I have been trying to sell my baby Sterling for nearly two months now. I hate that I have to get rid of it, but it just isn't the best idea having this in Chicago without a real need for it.

I've put it on eBay, Craigslist, cars.com, YouTube and NAM Marketplace without many bites. I have it listed below KBB value, posted professional photos and even a video tour without much success. This thing is pristine, I've maintained it perfectly and have babied it since I've bought it. Does anyone have any advice, tips or tricks on selling? I can use any help!

Thanks!
Chris

The only advice I can offer is what has worked best for me. Whenever I sell a car I start it at KBB or a little higher and if I don't get many hits after a week or two I'll drop the price a grand or so and see what happens and continue the process until I finally start getting some interest.

fwiw, I'd include some more text explaining what the Camden edition is and what a buyer may get above and beyond other 2010 MCSs on the market.

I'd delete the info about the cost of the options you listed. May need to clean up the list of equipment in general. Be sure to include stuff that seems standard (power windows, power door locks, etc.). Some of your details could probably be pulled as well (e.g. only driven once in the snow). Give just enough info to pique a shopper's interest - then when they call you can fill them in on what a great job you have done taking care of the vehicle.

Good luck!

That's YOUR sticker on the back of my car, haha. Anyway, where did you e-mail me? I haven't seen anything yet.

Thanks,

+1 to the above. This is the method dealers use to move inventory.

Thanks, everyone for your insight. I have dropped the price down to nearly 2,000 below KBB and now I'll see what happens.

GREAT price IMO........I will say that Manheim auction prices are much higher than what you are asking. You might try some dealers, maybe a Carmax?

You are priced right.
It will sell. Just be patient.
I have had good success selling cars with Autotrader.com

go to carmax. it is worth the 30min. at least you will know the bottom number. they may even suprise you. if hbr is right and auction prices are higher than your asking price, you will likely be suprised.

I once sold an old Mercedes diesel to a dude from Nebraska on AutoTrader.com. He took a freaking bus to Arizona and drove it home to fix up in his barn. I thought I'd never sell it but he was looking for a cheap one with no rust that he could drive away.
As for the ad, I'd get rid of some of the gushy adjectives (uncommon, pristine). I'd disclose what you paid for the car new because everyone wants to know that and it's a PIA to figure it out.

Your car still for sale? It's a bit far from me but maybe we could figure something out. I'm looking to buy at the end of may.
