Satellite radio

Hey all, I'm still setting up my '09 MCS and I was wondering what some of you are using for XM or Sirius mounts, and where you're mounting them in your rides.
In my old FJ I could put it down where the console meets the dash, but on the MINI it'll be hidden behind the cup holders there.

Just wanted to see what you all have come up with. As always, pictures are very appreciated!!

I tried using an old Sportster (Sirius) with the aux jack, and it sounded pretty bad, like a low quality MP3. Plus, I just don't like the music they play. SO I took it out.

OBTW the Sirius in my wife's 2011 KIA sounds worlds better, but the same crappy music...

Please let us in on where you find the greatest music.

I haven't figured out a good mounting place yet for my XM radio. I currently have it with one of the brackets wedged in behind the speedo trim. But I really don't like it there - just a temp fix. Long term, I think I need to swap out my CravenSpeed mount for my GPS with one of their models with multiple mount points and then put the radio opposite the GPS (but probably inside the circumference of the steering wheel).

Oakland, that is a most excellent write-up. I had not thought about fabricating my own mount - may have to give that some thought. Wish I could figure out whether I have the satellite antenna in my MINI - I'm thinking not though. I don't have the plastic piece under my seat like you do, so the only way to fish for the connector is to cut my carpet. Since I can't feel anything under the carpet, I hesitate to do that (combined with info showing the sat antenna has a different part number from a regular antenna mount).

It's possible this post may assist you:

Again, I can't verify this since my Mini is different, but hope it works for you.

Here's a thread with some photos for those without the plastic plate under the passenger seat:

Hope this helps!
