And if you are just signing up good luck finding a place to stay. Some friends went looking last week and the closest place they found was over an hours drive.

 

...not to mention the fact that registration has closed.

 

You are right it did close yesterday.

 

That's a shame as I had a 2 bedroom cabin that I turned back into Fontana because I wasn't going to be able to make it and NOBODY even wanted it even after posting it on multiple sites. I eventually turned it back into Fontana and got my deposit back (this was last Thursday).

 

From what i heard there is a waiting list of over 100 people that are looking to stay at Fontana. I would be willing to bet it was taken by someone on the waiting list within 10 minutes.

As for the two people I know. they wanted to only pay $300 for the both of them for 4 nights so they would not have taken it either.

Thanks for the input. I live in Knoxville and we ususally drive over on Saturday morning about the time they take the group picture.

I just got back from the Dragon this past weekend. I wanted to go on a weekend that had no events and not a ton of bikes. If you don't mind the drive, the Red Roof in in Etowah, TN is nice, cheap and clean. You get to take the Cherohala Skyway to the Dragon, too.
