PLEASE HELP! Tinting, Need to Force windows to roll all the way up, door open

I am tinting my windows on my MCS 2007, recently purchased. I tinted the front windows, obviously when the doors were open, only when the tint was dry, and I got in my car and closed the doors, did I discover the "convenient" feature that Mini/BMW has programmed into the car, where the windows then roll up on their own, another 1/2". Which, obviously leaves a 1/2" gap in my tint at the bottom, which looks like crap. I tried putting black 1/2 striping on the bottom to cover up the space, but it looks stupid, plus I am unable to get to the fron or back corners, with the door closed.

Can anybody please tell me how to FORCE the car to think the door is shut, when it isn't? There obviously is another magnetic sensor somewhere, because I tried to just manually force the lock shut with a screwdriver, this makes no difference. It is only when the door is actually shut, that the car will fully roll up the windows. This is the first car I have ever owned that had a "feature" like this, and it's really starting to make me mad, because I'm about to rip my perfect tint off.

I just had mine tinted and the guy did it with the doors open and just "tucked" the tint behind the seal at the bottom to compensate. It really didn't seem to be an issue.

I remember having mine done, the tinter was pissed because he didn't realize that happened and had to redo them when he shut the door and saw the window jump.

if you disconnect the negative terminal on the batterie with the windows rolled all the way up, the window won't drop.

Yep, both who posted about removing the negative battery cable, that worked perfectly. Thanks. Now if only I had thought of this before I tinted my windows. I will get around to re-tinting them. But for now I'm going to the auto store store, in purchasing more black masking tape, and now that I have my windows all the way up, the black strip will actually look good. I will post pictures when I'm finished. Thanks everybody for your help.

I know this is a bit late... why not just pop a screwdriver in the door side of the latch (act like its the striker on the B-pillar)? It'll pop the window right up. Make sure to pull the door handle before closing the door to open up the latch again.

No battery removal or anything. Works on essentially all cars with frameless windows and the 'auto-roll' feature.

This is what you should do. Should make sure to do what he said and lower the window before closing it or else you will shut your door and shatter your window.
