Mechanical Limited Slip Diff car worth more?

I have a 2009 MCS with mechanical limited slip diff that I'm trading in.

Think it's worth more because of it being mechanical LSD as opposed to e-diff?

To an avid autocrosser, I would say absolutely.

But keep in mind that the mechanical LSD was a $500 factory option, so it likely won't bump the value too, too much.

In regards to trade-in value...I'd say its going to make no difference.

Private party...maybe worth a few more, as you will have buyers that want the mechanical diff specifically.

That is accurate. Officially the dealers add for certain options. Also very obvious things that even grandma can see like new tires, or mint condition will make them push a number a bit, but the value of that feature is not apparent to most of their buyers and they may not add anything just because of that.

Trade in?

Factory LSD? Nope.

Aftermarket LSD (OS Giken, Quaife?) probably not so much either..lol

I agree with the other posters. If you trade in to the dealer the LSD option will not add any significant value.

But the factory LSD is a highly desireable and VERY hard to find option for anyone who wants to track or autocross their car. If you post it for private party sale, it should add value and/or help sell the car faster. Especially if you have the LSD + no-sunroof combo, it will be a very rare and desirable car for anyone looking at the car for its performance potential.

Maybe I should put it in the market place rather than trade it in.

It is Mech LSD and NO sunroof. Didnt know it was a hard to find combo.

You will always get more money retailing it. Not much to lose. Craigs list isn't bad either since it is only email.

Great thread. If I ordered my car in April of 2008 with the factory lsd option can I assume that it's a mechanical differential? No sunroof on this one either and am considering building the car for dedicated time trial/track day usage.

Yes you can assume, and you are right. it has a 25% limited slip. Probably not enough for a track car...

Thanks for the information! I have been wondering this for a while now. Glad I found it here without starting a new thread. A Quaife or like diff. is on my bucket list but outside the budget for this year. Maybe next winter.
