CEL help please

Hi all, my girlfriend's 2007 Cooper is throwing a CEL. The Bavarian Technic software retrieved the following code:
2EE5:
map thermostat, input signal
Error will cause a warning light
Error is not currently present
Test conditions have been completed
Timeout
The engine thermostat was replaced in August, fwiw. Any help deciphering would be appreciated. Thanks!

Now, the 2EE5 code gives me this from the Bentley Service manual:
* MINI DTC (P0301) 0x2EE5 - Combustion Miss, Cylinder 1: Increased Exhaust Emissions

If you have the Bavarian Technic package, have you data-logged to see what real-time values you have?

Excellent, thanks Erik! I don't have the Bentley for this car, and googling that code wasn't helpful. The misfire is surprising, as she hasn't reported anything unusual to go along with the CEL. Any idea why the misfire code would display something about the map thermostat?

No logs have been done yet. Any recommendations what to log with Bavarian Technic? I'm more familiar with VAG-COM. :( I really appreciate the advice.

Depends if the engine isn't running up to temperature.
Remember, these direct-injection engines like to sit around 220 deg-F.

You'll want to check misfire counts, engine coolant temp, and the like.
Clear out the fault and see if returns quickly or if it was only a hiccup.

Ah, VAG-COM... there's a comforting term I rarely see around here.
I wish Ross-Tech would make a better scanning interface for the MINI platform like that of the VW / Audi.

Great, thanks! We'll have some stuff to do tomorrow, and we'll post the results of the logs.

OK, so the coolant temp ranged from 100.5 at the beginning of our drive to 111.75 after some hard acceleration. That seems about normal for this car from what I've read, correct? It was definitely getting up to temperature, at least. There were some intermittent misfires detected on different cylinders, but no performance issues were apparent. The car has 64.7K miles on it, and has been to the dealer for engine maintenance visits with the exception of the previous oil change and when the thermostat was replaced. Any idea how often the plugs are replaced in these cars? I gather that Mini doesn't provide a recommended maintenance booklet? The xls is attached; any further thoughts? Thanks very much!

Correct, the your readings of 212 - 233 degrees F are normal operating range.

In the service manual, it calls for 60K miles on the 'S'-model plugs.
The platinum / iridium electrode tips do wear out; pull the plugs and replace - make sure to set proper gap.

Thanks. I did find the service manual. The car is not an S, so the plugs should ostensibly be good to 100K miles. I'll check the gaps; have there been issues with the OEM plugs needing regapped before the maintenance schedule? Thanks.

Yeah... that's debatable.
Even the high end platinum plugs wear down their electrodes every at 50K miles.

Yep, there's another thread I'm currently helping out with a non-S owner with large spark plug gap issues.

2EE5 IS a fault for the map thermostat. You can try to bleed the system to make sure there is no air pockets and clear the fault, but ultimately, you need a new thermostat. Take it back in, should have a 2yr parts warranty. Sometimes parts are bad right off the shelf.
