R56 Oscar gets new wheels
Oscar gets new wheels
I finally changed out the wheels on Oscar. I had them powdercoated gloss black and I'm going to put a thin orange stripe on the wheels.

Those look awesome! I was really close to getting some MSR 045s off eBay but in hyper gray. Opted to save longer and get Breyton GTS-Rs. Also, I believe they are about 23 lbs, not the lightest, but sure look great.

The wheels look nice but you should of called me before buying.
Sorry ya’ll, I was out of town this weekend.
First, the 17” OZ wheels are going back to being my track wheels. I bought the OZ wheels because they only weigh 14.x lbs.
I realize these wheels are heavier but for the street, who cares? I like the looks of them and once I get the orange stripe in them, they’ll be fine.
For the record, I will have the identical set of OZ wheels powdercoated in gloss black in 18’s with tires (no sensors) for sale shortly.... They’re great wheels but I couldn’t run 18’s AND coilovers at the same time on the street.
Yes, I painted my chrome. If it’s prepped correctly, the paint will stick BUT the headlight rings tend to chip because of where they are. Here’s the problem.
The hood (except for a very small lower part) is for the most part “at an angle” and not perpendicular to the road. Point is, most rocks will hit it at a glancing blow except for the bottom part of it.
Then the bumper is urethane so it’s a softer material and doesn’t take the abuse neither. Usually, headlight rings and grille mouldings take more of a beating because they are almost perpendicular to the road and when a rock hits it, it’s a hard enough surface that they chip.
My suggestion is to get a 3M clear bra put on them. When I had my 3M dealer install my clear bra, he put it on EVERY piece so I haven’t had so much as one chip. (except for when a huge rock skipped across my hood about 3” past where the bra ended)
HTH’s,
