Electrical Problem!

Hey guys, I just bought my first justacooper (2011) and I've had for a couple months now with only 5000 km on it and when I was driving the other day I noticed that my turn signals all of a sudden decided to stay on longer than usual. A couple minutes later as I was driving my radio went completely black, no orange light or sound or anything. Nothing happened to the rest of my lights and my car didn't stall or anything. Has this happened to anyone else, especially on such a new car. I kind of want to take it to the dealer but I have a feeling they're just going to tell me that they couldn't reproduce the situation since it hasn't hapened since. Although my blinkers are still a little weird. Any advice would be awesome.

Also on a different note has anyone had their shifter *** just come off while switching gears?

The turn signal maybe it just didn't catch when you turned. I'd wait and see if it happens again. My radio went black the first week I got it and it never happened again.

How can you tell if your fog lights shut off when you are turning?

As an FYI:

The turn signal lighting is controlled by the FRM module.

The turn signal "shut off" is signaled by the SZL module (steering angle, column stalk controls) over the vehicle data bus.

And the radio display/OBC LCD screen is controlled by the RADio module (head unit).

So for the turn signal not shutting off you could have an issue with the SZL or the calibration of the SZL (the module is not properly detecting the correct position of the wheel, this could be very dangerous since you have DSC).

I had similar unexplained electrical issues and it turned out to be a weak battery. Once replaced it was all good. Have them check your battery or stop by an Auto Zone and they'll check it for you.
