As long as you have the extra $$$$$, it's never to early! Look at it this way: In December of 2009 I was shiped out back to Iraq, about 2 weeks into the deployment I decided to keep my MINI, and forget about buying the Lotus I was going to get. I started the search for the best parts that would work for me, to build the MINI into something that would embarass the Lotus. I started aquiring parts in March of '09. In December of 2010 I returned home to my MINI, and a garage full of parts and pices to make that idea come to life, I am still working on puting the car togeather, and now I really have something to be proud of. With all the planing and research that I put into making sure I chose the right parts for what I wanted the car to do, and how it is turning out, I am glad that I had the extra time to get everything I needed before I even started the project.
In case you are wondering heres a link to my ongoing build thread.
