R56 How to get Auto-Up Windows?
How to get Auto-Up Windows?
I have had a 2007 R56 and now own an R57 Cabrio Cooper S. The biggest issue I have is that the windows do not have a one-touch up function.
BMW has had this as a standard feature for ALL windows for more than 10 years. Why can't we have this from Mini?
Is there a way to have this programmed from the dealer, or do I have to go aftermarket to attain this simple task.
Thanks,

It should already have it, my 2010 R56 does it. Just "tap" the toggle for auto up and down. If it doesn't do it with that, you might need to do a window reset. Let me know, I can post the procedure to do it yourself.
Check your owners manual. I believe this function can be turned on/off. Mine was disabled after I disconnected my battery so I had to reinitialize the system using the procedure in my owners manual. I believe it goes like this: Roll both windows down simultaneously and then roll them both up simultaneously.
Just in case:
Insert the fob, hold both window toggles "down" at the same time until the windows are fully open.
Pop the fob out, then back in again, hold both toggles "up" until fully closed.
Pop the fob out, then back in again...you should have auto up/down again.

I really hope the 2010 has the auto up and down function.....it seems like it could be a standard option that I need to unlock.
**Edit**
Reset steps listed above does not work on 2010 Cabrio, unless there is a very limited length of time it has to be completed within.

Sorry, I'm out then. I would think the procedure would be the same for an R57 as an R56. Don't know of any time limitation on it, and I know it works on an R56...I've done it and I've helped out a couple of other R56s with the same procedure.
Just had to do this on my wife's new hardtop as the auto-up wasn't working by default.
The procedure is:
-close all doors <--important
-insert fob (no need to start)
-lower both windows simultaneously
-raise both windows simultaneously
-remove fob
Good luck...

As I mentioned in the seatbelt chime removal thread, if you contact Way at Way Motor Works, he has a computer that he can program your windows with auto up even with your remote. (and remove the seatbelt chime)
