Yellow Engine Light on the Way Home From Dealer

Hmmm. I started a thread about getting the yellow check engine light while driving my brand new s home from the dealer. It was posted on July 1. I wonder where it went?

Anyway, I tightened the gas cap, and when I started it up to go to the dealer, the light was gone. The code was a general EVAP system problem, which could be a gas cap problem, or a problem with a solenoid, charcoal canister, or leaking hose connection. Time will tell. I had another vehicle that threw the EVAP code. It used to come and go for a month. Finally, the light stayed on all the time. Turned out to be a bad solenoid valve.

Hi!

Hopefully your tightening the cap cured the problem. As you probably know, that's one of the first things to check if you get a light. Cross your fingers, maybe that was it.

Yea, I wondered where your thread went also. I was wanting to know how that turned out. Glad to hear it was hopefully just the gas cap.

I already tried searching before starting a new thread. Can you try looking for posts by me (laneess) and see if you find more than this thread?

There are 2 threads this one and the one I gave you a link to in message 4 above.

Did you do exactly as I said and use the ADVANCED search and search by username?

I guess I failed.

I must be losing it! I did a search for all posts by laneess in all forums before starting the second thread. The search didn't find anything. Now, when I did the search again, it showed my original thread, but it was in the JCW section.

Somebody help me here. Did anybody else see the original thread in the 'Coupe Talk' section of the forum?

That did not come from the Bible. It's an ancient Chinese proverb.

I thought it was odd that the first post was in JCW. Sometimes the moderator moves stuff around but don't know why it would end up there if they did?
You could ask the moderator move or combine the 2 threads if you want.
