Totaled my Cooper this am - did well

hit tree avoiding a deer this am with cruise control set at 35mph, never even hit brakes. I fared well, just seat belt rash/bruising on hips. Really pleased with how inside car was unaffected, I can see how rated 5 star.

Insurance co verbally totaled it by description of damage...Had it since new in 2008, was fun but want larger car this go around.

Glad you're okay and the car did it's job keeping you safe! I was always told to not swerve for deer because deer are a lot softer than trees.

In Michigan, at least, it's also considered a not-at-fault accident if you hit a deer, but if you swerve and hit something else then you are at fault.

Glad you're ok, that's the most important thing.

It's amazing how it takes a beating head on and you're able to walk away isn't it?

That front end damage looks about the same amount when I was hit head on last November. If anything, inhaling the powder from the airbag going off hurt the most.

Looks like nothing a little polish and wax couldn't fix!

What a sturdy little beast.

And, deer are also sturdy little beasts. But, your little beast saved your life. Rest in peace.

Many insurance policies give you a "freebie" accident regardless of whether or not you are at fault.

I'm VERY happy you are okay! Understand this: If you hit the deer going 35mph, your car would STILL be totalled, and there is a good chance the deer could have broke through your windshield. I actually saw this happen this past winter with someone driving a Mazda Miata on the highway. It was gruesome. The deer was half in the car, half out... it looked like a horror movie.

I'd love to know what you are going to replace your MINI with!

I feel much safer about my car now. Except seeing the deer incident would have been more helpful since I dodge them everyday where I live. Hit a deer at 30mph in my a4 last month and it only broke the grille! Thing is a tank

I hit a deer in my last vehicle. It was a Jeep Grand Cherokee. I was going 60 and it did $5400.00 dollars damage to the jeep and the deer was in about 300 pieces... Glad you are okay...

It's amazing that you hit that tree that hard and yet the doors, and everything else behind the hood still line up perfectly.

The problem with hitting a deer is if it comes crashing through your windshield or crushes the roof... could be a problem.

Pretty awesome to see how well the car fared.

Yeah, this is better than a deer through the windshield. Glad you came though this alright and the car did it's job. Did the airbags deploy?

Having being in the bodyshop business for almost 30 years, I can attest to you how well built and safe the mini is.... not to mention as most of you know, I totaled my mini hitting a wall at VIR doing 120mph.

Of course, Oscar is alive and well so that should attest to how well built they are.

Glad to hear you’re okay, the car’s replaceable... you’re not.
