Driving Modes?

Ok, I pre-apologize for anything I ask that may be considered stupid....

I understand the my MCSa has 4 driving modes:

1- Full autobox with the gear selector in D, Sport mode (via button) OFF
2- Manual autobox with the gear selector in +/-, Sport mode (via button) OFF
3- Full autobox with the gear selector in D, Sport mode (via button) ON
4- Manual autobox with gear selector in +/-, Sport mode(via button) ON

My question is.... drumroll please....

Which, if any, of the 4 modes above can cause the most premature wear on the drivetrain?

Background...

I like #3, taking advantage of not having to shift but enjoying the "pep" of Sport mode. I'd like to know if I'm hurting anything that may cause concerns in the next 100,000 miles.

Thank-you, flame-suit on.

There are way too many ways to shift that transmission. Are you driving or playing a video game?

I wouldn't see a problem using the trans in *any* mode from the factory. Just cruisin' around with those higher shift points would get old for me though.

Maybe that's why I haven't had an automatic trans, well, ever.

Your choice though! Enjoy the car no matter what setting you choose.

I really don't think it makes any real difference in longevity, 90% of the time I drive in manual mode with sport button always on, can't see any reason not to.

the only auto ive enjoyed was my co workers e55amg, mostly because if your off the gas it wouldnt coast if you were above a certain rpm. I just feel a lack of control when im not driving a manual just my personal opinion. I hate that coast sensation.
