Wouldn't the joey mod reduce the light output? That reflector must be there for something!

MINI offers black headlights as an option now on the 2011 models.

You paint everything BUT the reflector when you do the joey mod on the halogens. I never noticed a difference in light output on mine.

On Marks car I wouldn't do a black joey mod. I think some shade of gray or something neutral would look really good though. If the lights were totally black I think it would be "too much" like Mark said.

I'm contemplating doing a light grey joey mod on my new car since it's PW.

Also, the black housing headlights offered on the 2011s require you to get the Xenons, which, unless I'm mistaken, rely on the lens more than reflectors for light output.

What can I say, Mark? The car came out great! And the fact that it took just over 2 weeks to paint and re-assemble is something I can't even wrap my brain around. I know you do this for a living, but still...

I haven't gone through 11 pages of posts, but I have a question. What are your thoughts on the JCW brake kit being red? There's something about red brake kits on cars that are not black, gray, silver or white the drive me a little nutty... But it's also in the same spectrum so I'm guessing you would want to keep it original which I get. But if it were mine - black out the calipers (I know it would hide them, but), leave the silver in the background behind *WORKS* and then do *WORKS* in the orange. Crazy, right?

Albie,

Thanks bud, I'm really happy with the way the car came out. Still finishing a few things but for the most part, it's 99% done.

I agree with the red caliper thing, however, if they were painted orange, I think it would look like I went to Autozone and picked up a spraybomb and blew color on it.

I could have them powdercoated but still, it might be too much. Black would hide them and silver would be ugly IMO.

So I guess for now, they're going to stay red.

Mark

I looked at the car today and I'm thinking that might be the answer.

Since my second oldest's favorite color is orange I had to show her the pics. She loves it, too!

But, I'm forwarding you her question... and I quote, "Why does he want people to KISS his S?"

LOL.... tell her it's the old plate off my Mini Cooper "S" and I liked my car so much, I wanted people to kiss it for good luck.

Mark

PS. (assuming she's just a child....lol, not sure it will work if she's 17)

It would be wayyyyy "too much," but I forgot you also own a Corvette.

I don't think you'll like it on your MINI, especially if you still have your hood scoop black. Just my opinion obviously, either way you still have my favorite MINI ever.

Mark, when are you going to hit the track again to see how all the mods you've made work?

Did Roebling Road already come and go?

Dave,

I haven't done any track days since.... I've got a torque steer problem and I want to make sure it's right because I'm afraid I'll hit the gas and jump into the car next to me.

Sorry, I'm late to the party. I don't know how well the OSG diff works in a front drive car, but my car owner put one in the rear-drive car I'm co-driving (autocross) and it's awesome! BTW, I noticed you're done a lug-bolt to lug-nut conversion. Where did you get the new bolts?

I bought them from a member on the forum. Texas speedworks was the only place I could find them and they went out of business. Way Motor Works bought their products and was suppose to have any. When I called, he was out but it's definitely worth a try to call him and see if he still has any.

Installing the lug conversion was the best thing I've done on that car.

I'd say that is debatable.

Hey Mark:

Did you do any kind of an undertray under the whole car?

Did you ever post pictures of the rear underside device? I've been away for a bit and only able to see snippets of what has gone on here.

Thanks

No, no undertray yet. I'm working on a rear diffuser and will need the underbody to tie it in.

Getting there...

Wow... missed this whole thing, but the GT3 RS Orange is awesome.

It's like the long-lost brother to this GT3RS Signal Green R53:
