R56 Is MiniDoMore still in business?
Is MiniDoMore still in business?
I've been trying to contact the company by phone and e-mail for 2 months now with no response. Have I missed something here? I am specifically looking for information on their hitch for the 2009 S Coupe, and the valance they sell. Anyone here got that setup? If so, did the valance come painted or were there options on getting it painted? Or is that something that has to be done locally? How do you like the setup?

Actually that was MINIfini. They are located in Columbus Ohio and i will be gettting one of the hitches and cargo carriers in the next few weeks
I'm done with MDM!! Got an e-mail reply from them after 3 months stating they would call me today. Nothing happened, so Etrailers got my business, for about half of what MDM wanted. Never did get an answer on the valance MDM sells, and I figure I can cut a hole in my bumper cover as well as the next guy. After Brents rant about how Curt copied his work, I was prepared to support him. and after trying for 3 months, I'm done. Customer response wins the day with me every time.
Well after seeing Curt's stuff at MINI on the Dragon, MINIfini has my business. Curt's products looked second rate compared to MINIfini's offerings. Sure, MINIfini is expensive but quality always is.
Soggy, to answer you question about the hitches locking on, you would have to know how to take them off to be able to steal anything. It is not as simple as just pulling a pin and releasing it. However, they are easy to take off once you know the 'secret' Check out their site. For what i am wanting will cost me around a grand but worth it.

I checked their site and it does not show how it is connected. I sent them a question to see if they have a video that shows the process. It must be a "Secret" indeed!
I do like the way they are so unobtrusive when not in use.

MiniFini sent this link. They actually lock!

Pretty cool system even if it is pricey, but so is the Mini...

The cargo carrfier is probably their most expensive add-on. I did not realize it locks but they thought of so much I can't imagine them not thinking fo that as well.
I did not watch the video but when I was at the Dragon, someone who had it on their convertible showed me how the cargo system attaches and I assuming the rest of the accessories fit the same way. I will buying mine before I head to the Dragon next year and since they are only 2 hours away from, I'll head up to their shop in Columbus for the install.
Curt's, and for that matter, MINI Do More, products, while fairly inexspensive do not seem to be as well built and stable on the back of the MINI. They guy the Curt tent at the Dragon that the cargo carrier was a little unstable and you just "attach to straps to the ends to keep it from moving" The MINI Fini products have the attachment points at the ends and the whole set up just seems that much more well made. That's my two cents. And no, I have no affiliation with MINI Fini, I'm just someone that is impressed by their products.

Yes, the MiniFini would wiggle around much less because of the 2 point mounting system for all its attachments. If I bought a new Mini I believe that the dealership would install one since I saw one on a brand new Cabriolet and was told it was "Factory".

I ordered a hitch from them within the past month
I ordered a hitch from Mini-do-more in the last month. Here are some photos of it pulling my camper. I have over 3,000 miles on the trailer so far and both the trailer and hitch are performing well.
My wife and i saw your camper at the Dragon. It looks pretty nice and someting we may consider.
Soggy, I think the camper was 1100 pounds if i remeber right and it was all aluminum. Actually pretty nice and roomy. I still like the Mini Fini sport link better though.
Also to answer someone's previous question, Mini Fini does have an available light harness.

The ugliness with Curt buying one of each of his MDM hitches and then (allegedly) copying his designs may have forced him to take a break --

On an R56, you CAN do the bumper skirt cut easily yourself -- it takes longer to remove the black skirt from the colored bumper cover than it does to do the actual cutting. A drill and a coping saw OR a Dremel-tool will do the job; take your time and it may take all of ten minutes.
