R56 Extended Maintenance Program - 6 year 100k miles Contract Terms
Orlando MINI dealership quote was $3,000 for extended warranty to 5 years/100,000 miles and $1,700 for extended maintenance for same term.
We are at 34,000 miles, and they have ordered a new fly-wheel under the extended maintenance. Once they are in there, they will look at clutch and if it is outside the parameters, will replace.

Clutch replacement seems to be the biggest selling point of the extended maintenance plan, second being brake replacement.
What about for cars with automatics? How much does the dealer charge for a transmission flush (if it's even recommended under 100k miles)? Is the maintenance plan worth less money for a driver of a MINI with a slushbox?

"Maintenance with the discount is $1895.00 for you!" ~~ MINI of San Diego
. For me, this price is crazy (and this is the "discount"). Since I won't hit 100K mi in 3 years, this is the price for a three year extension. If my clutch dies, it'll have been well worth it. If the clutch lives through, I'll be kicking myself for years to come for wasting the money. This price is really too much. To be honest, this clutch thing makes my fun car pretty stressful.
I'm really hoping I can find the maintenance warranty for a better price, but if I can't then I'm just going to have to clench up every time I drive for the next three years or so. If I have to travel to find a better price for the maintenance warranty, then I'll consider it a free weekend vacation.
I have a 2010 Mini Cooper S, most of the clutch problems I've been reading about were 2009 and before, have there been any improvements to the clutch or associated parts for this year or since? Is the self-adjusting clutch installed on replacement now? Is it possible to retrofit?

the extended maintenance also covers brakes and rotors
my sister has a 2009 mcs and has had rotors and pads changed 2 times and had the front calipers changed the second time
that in itself saved more than the cost of the plan
also covered are the air filters, cabin and engine, wiper blades, oil/filter and the plan also extends the roadside assitance out to six years too

I've called over a dozen dealerships, all over the US (places I plan on visiting over the next year) for maintenance warranty quotes and I could find it for no less than $1795. I've got another 6 months left on my current maintenance warranty warranty, and I'm pretty sure I'm going to reup. As far as I know, there's not much room for negotiation unless I can get them to discount me for getting a powertrain warranty at the same time. Roadside assistance comes with any descent insurance now, but YMMV.

I don't remember all of them for sure, the only one I remember for sure was the MINI of Escondido (most applicable to me at $1795). The ones in LA were most expensive ($1895-$2295), but I called Utah, El Paso, Steven's Creek and Las Vegas as well.
The factory maintenance coverage on my Friend's 2010 (late 2009 build date), Clubman S will expire on 11/7/2012. Today, 11/3/2012, she took her car to MINI of Ontario (California) to get her last free oil change. While there, she purchased the extended maintenance coverage for $1,750.
So I'm looking at a used many with 66k on it. It has the extended maintenance on it. Would it be worth it, or advisable, to get a full extended warranty from my credit union to cover everything else? It seems like the mini maintenance warranty doesn't really cover anything.
The maintenance warranty is for maintenance like oil changes. The warranty from your CU is likely for when things break. As much as repairs seem to cost, it is probably advisable, if the cost is reasonable.
I am sure this is common knowledge but if its not.
The Extended maint is on the configurator at miniusa for accessories.
the price they give is 6yr 100k $1795, so the price has to be better than that.

Price of Extended Service Agreement and extended Warrant
I have two questions that hopefully someone can answer:
I just purchased a 2013 in AZ. The price for the extended service agreement at the dealer was $1995. I read in another post that those prices were set by mini but sounds like they paid much less. This is 72 months 100k. For the $2k I am wondering if I did not make a mistake there since it sounds like it only covers oil changes and brakes and inspection.
Alternatively I am thinking I should have bought the normal vehicle extended warranty. Not sure how much those are and if anyone has a recommendation for finding one now that I already bought the car a couple weeks ago.
Thanks in advance.

For my 07 MCS, i got the extended maint it was lower cost but we can say that i paid 2k for this comparison.
in post 36k , i had 6 sets of brake pads, and 4 sets of rotors. including the oil changes that was just about brake even for 2k price.
However, if you have a manual trans, the maint covers clutch and flywheel, which is something like 16 hours worth of labor alone. So this would be an easy no brainier. Over time it will pay for itself or not, at least you have piece of mind.
The extended warranty is a good idea as well.

Has anyone heard of anyone with success getting MINI to pay for the the clutch/flywheel job? I mean, come on. They don't charge us the labor hours on the brake pad/rotor maintenance. Why would we in this case if it's also a "wear and tear" item (like the brakes)?
I am not sure where you are at , but here in the DFW area i have heard of 2 people getting clutch and flywheel replaced under warranty.
here is the catch
if you say the clutch is out you bring it in for service. You have to agree to pay the 16 hours labor to take the thing apart and put it back together if its not out or worn beyond spec.
If its not out of spec you pay, if its out and needs replacement , they cover it all.

Thanks, Dave. I just want to be able to walk in and confidently say "this has been done before". Now I can. Thank you! I'm in Orange County, CA, and got the run around from Long Beach MINI and Irvine MINI. Next up I'll give Crevier a shot.
Many thanks! - Jason
The $1795 that you can add on at the configuration is as low as they can go. If you get it for less than that, means they took a loss on it.
Still trying to find out more on the Extended Warranty.
Ok here is an update after more investigation and asking people who i know and trust.

Thanks Dave98 . Great info. Let me know if you see anything on the configurator on the extended. Wish I would have done more of this research up front...too eager to get behind the wheel. I just dont want to shame it when he breaks down down the road
Here's the rest of the information I got from a reputable source
MINI Extended Motorer Protection:
5yr/100,000 miles - $2,580 retail - $2,080 sell price
6yr/100,000 miles - $3,040 retail - $2,540 sell price
7yr/100,000 miles - $3,490 retail - $2,990 sell price
Thanks Avuton, did Mini of SD go to $1595? and if so do you have a contact i can call? I would like to get the best price and don't have to go to the local dealer to do it.
Thanks for the warranty numbers. I got a lower price for the 5/100k but not sure if it was the mini/bmw warranty or the western reliance warranty.
