R56 Extended Maintenance Program - 6 year 100k miles Contract Terms
Why can't they bundle the warranty and the maintenance plans together. Buying both of these is far too expensive. Almost 4-5K together.....it would be the same or cheaper to just trade the car in for a newer model and be covered.
I just wanted to thank all those who posted info on this thread. Very informative. I am at the precipice 35 1/2 K (34 months) so I am polling all the dealers with a few hundred miles of me, to see if I find a price that is right. My inclination is to not do it, but that is mostly because money is tight. I will post my results.
I may have posted this link before but it is worth a second look.
Read what Consumer Reports says about Extended Warranties. http://www.consumerreports.org/cro/c...ranties-ov.htm
I know this is an extended maintenance thread but the considerations are similar.

I have a $100 deductible for any repairs covered. But repair costs on a MINI can add up quick. Window motor? $460 (like five years ago). Front lower control arm bushings? $800 installed (and that particular part requires a press to get them in). Supercharger? $1,600 (reman) or $2,100 (new) plus labor. Turbo? Try $4,000 installed (quoted to one of our local club members last year).
Remember, it's a BMW product. $$$ for your sports car.
The clutch was specifically mentioned by sales when I was buying my '09 S, but it is NOT included in the Extended Maintenance Plan contract.
Well I surveyed all the Mini dealers within 400 miles of Chicago (I am in a suburb), and they all came back with figures in the $1700-$1800 range. Unfortunately, it is too much for me at this point, and since I crested 36k this weekend, a moot point now.
Maintenance Warranty/ Extended Warranty
Let me start with maintenance warranty... a JOKE........ the service writters are very well trained to say we did not replace it due to it did not throw a cel or code.. Well i just returned form my last maintenance warranty because its over in June.. 3 yr.. I took a look at my engine filter and it was full of dried grass.. i asked the writer and he said it didnt show a code to change,,, so just oil and filter,,, as no codes are showing Right ya,,, wipers no codes plus lots of other items no codes.. what a rip off..
our dealer told me the extended no deduct was $ 2611.00.. This 08,09,10 engine is a joke.. with its pcv system sending oil into our intakes, inter coolers, turbo, and cooking it,,,, all you hot rodders will kill the motor as it will not hold up... 08 clubman S .. DO WHAT THE builder of the motors do.. sell plugs to block off the rear pcv line off the valve cover and also where it goes into the intake... put a catch can on so you can at least slow the oil down.... change the oil line feeding the turbo it will fill and cook due to the dia of the line.... just a few things to save you money and mods wreck extended warranty unless you can hide them....
Unless it has changed, the clutch was mentioned in the terms that i posted earlier.
Sorry, I'm just a little confused. If I buy the extended maintenance program from a dealer that is far away from me (because it's cheaper), does that mean that that is the only dealer I can benefit from the program? That wouldn't make sense, especially if I move from state.
So, why can't we just call to a dealer around the US with the cheapest price and purchase it from them? Is it because I would need to bring the car at the time of purchase?

I considered it to be about peace of mind. I originally recommended it to people. I have to take it back now. All they really do is change brake pads and the cabin filter. The intervals are just too long. I had my alternator belt go out at 79k miles. In my opinion it should have been replaced in the 50k mile range. That's when I change them on my Honda, and when (again, in my opinion) when normal people start thinking about changing belts.
So I get stuck beside the road in the 100F. I had to get it towed home as I was 3 miles away and had to prepare to go out of town very early the next day (in another car). Then I had to take a day off from work and have it towed to the dealer 4 days later. $200 in tows added to the $1800 I paid for the plan I'm up to $2000 for 2 or 3 (forget) oil changes, 2 cabin filters, and a set of brakes. I can no longer recommend the thing.

it says at the end of the paper i got that you can't get money back upless you send them a copy of a "totalled" - wrecked car. if you find out different let us know as i'm selling mine and had ruled out the option due to the contract
I feel your pain
Even though your pain was a few years ago.
I did something similar. When I traded the car in, the dealer gave me an additional $500 in trade in value because of the warranty. Better than nothing, but left a bad taste in my mouth. I am currently within 50 miles of hitting 36k in my 2009 Clubman. (Which is why I 'm reading these threads now)
Danged if you do, danged if you don't.

this is an awesome thread, and I wish i saw it when I bought my extended, back in 2009. I bought mine for $1995, down from the original $2195. What a RIP. Worse, I sold the car a month later. AND had just put new socks and shoes on it. Ridiculous. I should have just driven down the Embarcadero throwing twenties out the window. More people would have enjoyed it.
This is a great resource for the future!

Anyone get a discount on the Maintenance Program Upgrade recently? MSRP looks like it has jumped to $1895. I'm on the fence as to whether it is worth it. If I could be guaranteed a new clutch before 100k, it would probably be a no brainer. However, for 4 oil changes, a set of brakes, and some wiper blades, meh...
Reading earlier posts, it sounds like you can add this as long as you are within the 3/36 standard maintenance plan. Is that correct?

After reading this post, I just purchased my mini on Saturday (so 7 days ago) I just attempted to cancel my extended maintenance and the guy told me it is beyond 5 days so I cant..even though apparently I never signed to maintenance contract paper and they have been trying to get me to sign it..they bundled the maintenance with the "tire and wheels" ...the tire and wheels says I have 30 days...why would the maintenance be any different? ...can someone please help me with this
