Here's the rest of the information I got from a reputable source
MINI Extended Motorer Protection:
5yr/100,000 miles - $2,580 retail - $2,080 sell price
6yr/100,000 miles - $3,040 retail - $2,540 sell price
7yr/100,000 miles - $3,490 retail - $2,990 sell price
Hmm, the "sell price" must have gone up. I'm certain they wouldn't have sold this thing to me at a LOSS OF PROFIT. I paid $1200 about two years ago at Long Beach MINI to extend my 2007 R56's maintenance.

Not unreasonable to think that the price of these services have gone up ~$400US in two years.

Yes, I'm in agreement. Bummer since it covers the same stuff. Hope everyone searching gets a good deal. And good to know for my next mini!

When I bought my use mini from private dealer. I got a 09 cooper s with 50000 miles on it. And it was out of warranty so I decide to take my chances and get 3rd party. I got aa protection. And glad I did because my timing chain started rattling and I took it to dealership and they quoted 1800 so i got renter car as well. But I end up paying a deducible of 100 and taxes which total 160. Not to bad. My coverage is 6 year or 100000 miles. I got almost all my worth back from the warranty. I paid 2400 for the warranty. So one of the best things I bought for my car plus good resale value because of the warranty.

Hello.
I think I got totally ripped off. I purchased a 2013 MINI hardtop today. I got the extended warranty and maintenance I paid 2230.00 for the extended warranty and 1995 for the extended maintence up to 7 years or 7k. Was I ripped off? Can I get a refund and renegotiate with another dealer?

I suspect that you can cancel your purchase; the Fed. 3-day cooling off period should apply.

I purchased my 09 Clubman with 50k miles and got the extended warranty. Had 2 oil changes already and I'm thinking about returning the car to save money. It's was more of a luxury buy and the added insurance and extra bill a month is making it difficult for me to pay of some debt and save for other things.

I've heard it was possible to receive some of the money I spent on the extended program. Is that true and what would be the best way going about doing that?

I noticed the MCS Hardtop we just purchased has 34K miles on it.
So going by soon to talk with the Mgr. over the Mini Dealership and see what pricing I can get.

I'll post here once I make the drive over and get the information.

For those following this Thread here are the cost I just paid for the 6-Year-100,000 Mile Maintenance Contract.

$1,720.00 Contract
....159.10 Tax
____________
$1,879.10 Total

That was $25.00 dollars over their cost.
I worked for dealers for 18 years so have contacts at most of them.
Including the MINI Dealership.

Keep in mind that the website states the price excludes taxes. Make sure to factor that into the consideration.

Here is a listing of items covered

The factory-recommended maintenance service items listed below are covered when required at specified service intervals, on eligible MINI vehicles during the applicable MINI Maintenance Program period:

Engine oil change and filter replacement
Vehicle inspections or check (per the applicable service maintenance checklist)
Cabin dust microfilters – fresh air and re-circulating
Air filter replacement
Brake pads (front/rear)
Brake discs (front/rear – only in conjunction with a covered brake pad replacement)
Brake fluid replacement
Engine drive belts
Windshield wiper inserts (front and rear)
Manual transmission clutch disc
Manual transmission oil (only in conjunction with an applicable engine oil and filter replacement)
Spark plugs
Oxygen sensors
Reset the maintenance system

A factory-recommended maintenance service item interval is determined either by the model-specific MINI Maintenance System (Service Interval Display or Condition Based Service), and/or upon examination and assessment for wear and tear of covered components during a vehicle inspection.

Do you have a link? When I went on miniusa it didn't list the clutch as covered and my local dealer referred me to the site stating the clutch was not covered.

I was able to find it under the extended mainenance contract but the key seems to be "normal wear and tear" just like with the brakes. Now the question is what is normal wear and tear mileage wise. Hopefully one of my manuals lists it. Thanks for the replies everyone. Its my first mini, bought it CPO, so I have the extended warranty. Just wanted to cover all my bases.

Since I don't have a clutch this maint plan is a waste. I can certainly do brake
jobs on my own and take it in to my dealer for $69.95 oil changes cuz the
filter is really a mess on these.

So to me at most I would pay $150 for 4 sets of pads , $420 for oil changes,
$50 wiper blades. That's being generous and that's a $1K loss for me.

They really should have a lower price for auto trans.

BTW when I got the tire and wheel plan for $1595 and found out others
paid $900 , I told my dealer to refund the difference or I would cancel the
plan as you have 30 days. I got a refund check for $695 the next week.

Actually the oil filter on these cars is in a great spot. Suck the oil out the dipstick, change the filter and you never have to touch the drain bolt. No drips, no mess. I can do it in my parking stall.

Be sure to change that auto tranny fluid regularly, don't fall for the 'lifetime' scam.

Good move on the tire plan. I rejected all warranties on my '12 S Hardtop because they were all ridiculously priced. Off to change my oil...

Are you moving the coolant reservoir out of the way? If not that is your first problem. Now all you do is put a few paper towels or shop rags under the filter housing before you remove the filter. Assuming you spend $30 for synthetic oil & filter you can pocket $40 and some gas.

You don't even need paper towels. Once the oil is sucked out the top, loosen the filter housing a little and you will hear it drain into the pan. Once that sits for a minute or so, unscrew all the way and no oil drips. I had more drops of coolant from moving the reservoir.

I hear you, if I had to crawl under the car I'd reconsider. If my dealer only charged $70 I'd think about it too. My cost breakdown:

Filter $8.96 shipped to my door
Oil $6.71 a quart from the dealer = $34 for 5 qts
Scheduling appointment, dropping car off, taking shuttle to work, taking shuttle to dealer, drive home: ~3 hours.

Time takes me to change oil, rotate tires, drink beer: less than 3 hours.
$27 for more beer

Since your time is priceless, how much of that time are you spending driving to/from and at the dealership waiting on the oil change?

FWIW I get Mobil 1 0w-40 + filter for $35. It takes 30 min for the oil change. $35+ in my pocket which will buy a full tank of gas.
