FWIW I get Mobil 1 0w-40 + filter for $35. It takes 30 min for the oil change. $35+ in my pocket which will buy a full tank of gas.

Free loaner?!?! Keep that dealer Mine says they only have 3 THREE loaners for the entire dealership (BMW and Mini). Wait, aren't you a CAR DEALER?!?!!? Seems like they would be in a unique position to have an unlimited number of loaners, wouldn't it? When I had a Scion tC I ALWAYS could request a loaner. Go figure. Anyway, take advantage of that setup you have, because the best mine can do is call Enterprise and then charge me for the rental.

Overpriced? Or? Any thoughts?

I will say that the 6yrs/100k miles is a no brainer, I purchased a 6-year/100k mile warranty for my Mini and that's before I found out how expensive it is to maintain them. I'm feeling pretty good right now, or for the next 5 years or so.

Yes... sorry. I'm having MINI withdrawal symptoms right now and this may have contributed to my sketchy reply. Perhaps it's time for a test drive...maybe this weekend.

For me it's been one thing after another, now I got this tapping noise when I get off the freeway (I think Vanos) and now my HPFP is making noises.

Timing chain, valve cover, flywheel/clutch, thermostat housing, fuels sensors, coolant reservoir cap failure, walnut blasting, and the above mentioned crap and I'm only at 53k! Mini sucks ****!

If this dealer is in Southern California, please PM me haha

My cost for oil is currently cheaper. Castrol syntec 0w-40 at wal mart is about $22 bucks. I'd save about $40 bucks and thats with my dealer charging $69. I guess I get free coffee, donuts and a wash. Perhaps they might catch something in thier "multi-point" inspections which im positive is just a brakes and tire check.

I just purchased two Mobil 1 0W-40 European Car Formula for $22 at Walmart, dealer surprised me be selling me a Mini brand oil filter for $9, so I bought three! The Mobil 1 0W-40 European Car Formula says on the back ACEA A3/B3, A3/B4 and BMW LL-01. I haven't been able to find any other oils that meet these specs at walk-in stores, not even the Mini branded oil states these specs.

The Castrol sytec 0w-40 meets this spec as well. Its made in Germany too and almart has it. It used to come in quarts of 5w-30 and not in jugs at walmart. I think its still available in quarts, though.

The only 0W-40 oil I saw was Mobil 1, wonder if other walmarts carry the Castrol Syntec 0W-40.

The MINI branded oil meets the A3/B3 specification. Since it is their "own" motor oil, they don't need to label it with the LL01 certification.

That's true, Castro must meet Mini's oil requirements. I remember from all the timing chain failures that some members reported that their chain noise went away when using a 0W-40 oil which makes sense because a 0W oil gives more oil pressure since it's almost as viscous as water. I can see how a 5-10W oil would lose oil pressure because of it being thicker.

Doesn't Castrol make all Mini/Bmw oil?

Yeah it's interesting to see that mobil and castrol went with 0w-40 for their LL-01 "european oils".

That's because they're driven (manufactured) in a cold climate in Germany and UK. No need for 5W oil over there.

Purchased used 2013 R56... Buy Mini-USA 'Extended Warranty' ?

On Dec 20th I bought a 2013 Mini (@ 14,000 miles) R56 from a private seller.

Should I consider getting Mini's 6 year/100,000 miles extended warranty?

If you're going to mod it I would pass unless you plan on keeping it pretty much stock then go for it.

And that's because the dealer could use the fact of an engine mod to possibly deny the extended warranty claim? Have there been documented cases of that listed here in the forums?

I wonder if it says that specifically in the extended warranty contract, that any/or certain mods could or will negate any future possible claim...

It says your warranty is void... Have a look at your ECU cover black and yellow writing! I'm afraid to install a Helix intercooler because it covers part of the radiator, if I ever had a piston, valve or ring failure they could say that the intake temps was high because radiator blockage.

Apart of me can't wait for the warranty to expire, my other half sleeps better at night knowing I have a little over 4 years left on my warranty. I believe I could easily install a water meth injection, simply remove hose and hide it under the windshield cowl.
