Taught the MINI some new tricks tonight

Hey guys,

Spent a few hours with Kevin from KP Technologies tonight working on some new modules for the R56.

Couple weeks ago we put together a mod for one touch open/close for the sunroof, info on that here:

https://www.northamericanmotoring.co...r-the-r56.html

Tonight we did a remote window and sunroof close and a sport button memory module.

The remote window is pretty simple, hit unlock then lock on the remote and your windows will automatically roll up and the sunroof will close the same as if you were holding the key in the lock position in the door. Nice for an easy walk away.

The sport button button memory is pretty self explanatory. The module will remember whatever state your sport button was in when the car was turned off and set it to that state on startup. This in theory could be adapted for the ASC or DSC setting too.

Kevin's getting all the documentation and pictures together. The installs are pretty simple as long as you're comfortable soldering wires and wrangling some trim panels.

Right now he's gauging interest on the different mods and if enough people are interested he's going to try to get some group buys organized here on NAM. So if any of these sound like something you'd like, drop Kev a line at: http://kptechnologies.com/

If there's any other electrical wizardry you'd like to see done we can look into that too.

I can't run a group buy until I get the approval from the owners of the board. I have contacted them requesting information and hope to hear back to them in the near future.

The best way to get ahold of me is on the 'net. PMs and Email works the best.

I'm still in for the Sunroof open/close mod. Also would be interested in the remote window/sunroof close mod also.

I would really like to know as soon as available since I'm getting ready to put in a remote myself and since I have to get into the overhead panel anyway to put in part of the alarm system, it would be nice to be able to do them both at the same time.

Mike...

What about the Sport button feature? This is what I would like. After using it all the time I can hardly drive the car without it.

I have the Auto-On Sport Button and the Auto-Open Sunroof. Both have worked flawlessly for the three months I have had them.

they are also not detectable by MINI. I just upgraded to the JCW Tuning Kit yesterday and there were no issues regarding the mods during the software upgraded since the modules simply take the place of the switch being operated manually. These were will worth the money. VERY reasonably priced and high quality.

Is there a detailed thread or any specific MINI instructions on installing the Sport module?

I ordered the Sport mode auto switch. Now I can eliminate my memorized [hit start-push clutch-hit Sport button] ritual and go to a normal [push clutch-hit start].
