Value of a loaded 2007 JCW MINI w/17K miles

I am looking to sell my little Mini could anybody tell me what I should be asking the car is paid off and I don't use it anymore. Car is loaded minus Navi/Sunroof but premium wheels, slotted front brakes and Carbon exterior pieces and interior trim. Color is Dark Silver with black roof and black wheels. Any opinions on the car and its value in this economy would be appreciated I was thinking of asking 30K as I paid $ 44,500 out the door I know I will lose but need to sell the car.

Thanks for Looking

These are good websites to gauge pricing. Good luck to you.

Um pretty sure R56 JCW didn't start selling till the summer of 2008 as a MY2009. I think you have an MCS with a JCW tunning package/kit.

I'm curious about this for my 07 MCS + JCW Stage 1 kit. It's also loaded and came in at a similar price point.

KBB, edmunds and the like don't have data on the JCW upgrades (yet?).

From a chat I had with my dealer, the kit doesn't seem to add a whole bunch to the resale value.

I would price the car as an S and then tack on maybe 1k.

The problem with modded out cars is they never see the return. If you are in a hurry price the car to sell. If not put it up for a reasonable price and sit on it until you get an offer you are satisfied with. You can get a brand new JCW w/ out the areo kit and no leather, loaded for 36K and MINI has the 2.9% rate going now. Add the nice leather and the areo kit and your up to 40K. Does your MINI have the areo kit and real leather?

I'd have to consider the source and the timing. I imagine the dealer might tell you something different if they were trying to sell you the kit.

I agree that modded cars don't keep their value as well as stock but the factory mods have to be more valuable then aftermarket (aka Alta, etc).

Or, that's what I keep telling myself.

Really doesn't matter for me, I'm keeping this car for a LONG time.

Yes I have the aero kit and real leather. Was thinking about 30K does that sound right or should I go a little higher like start out at like 32K and negotiate to my lowest price I would take which is 30K.

It sounds like you have a really nice MINI. If your not in a hurry I would start higher.

Looks like there is another MCS with JCW tuning kit in the marketplace. No Aero kit, no leather, 2008 MY, 8K miles, $26K:

No anything, practically, sounds like a huge difference in these two cars.

Good luck. As your original post referred to "in this economy" I think you will be shocked at what a willing buyer will pay for your car today. It doesn't matter what anyone tells you the value is or should be, what only matters is what a buyer will pay.

Drive the car more, and enjoy it!

True, I just always keep telling myself that any mods I do are for me, not the next owner.

I think the good thing about the bmw/jcw parts is that they don't hurt the value.

I would certainly buy a car with a stage one kit, but if i came across one with tons of alta or m7 parts i would think again.

Well when I have time I am thinking of taking it to my local Mine dealer to get it appraised. After this I will see at what price I should sell it at.

Just playing Devil's advocate here....I worked a trade-in deal on my 2008 MCS for my 2009 JCW Coupe through a friend of mine's leasing company. He gave me $24K trade in back in December on a 7th month old/8K mile car that sold for $28450 MSRP new. He told me this weekend his company still has it and that the MINI used market is saturated and full of dropping prices. He can keep it a bit longer hoping for values to rise again before being forced to auction it. Now is not a good time to get a good price for ANY used vehicle, MINI's included. I don't think you can get $30K for it.

30k for a retail 44k car is 68%, which is pretty low for a 2 yo car. I'd try for at least 32k. That's 72.7% of retail. But I don't know the car market too well mind you.
