JCW Aerokit brake coolings ducts - pics inside

I know a lot of people have questions about the brake ducting that has become available for the JCW aerokit.
The MINI color is interchange yellow btw.

Here are some pics:

wow, THOSE are cool. However, it looks like it was a home job - which means perhaps we could mod for that.

It also looks like the challenge cars come with coilovers. Too bad the factory JCW doesn't have THOSE.

Some photos from the net... Notice the air scoop on the black car, and the duct work on the others. It would be nice to be able to order that part from the Challenge catalog. The duct work I can get from Home Depot

Comparing the JCW ducts to race stuff isn't fair. How does the JCW duct kit compare to BMW M-car ducting?

Nothing fair about it, for sure That being said, it doesn't look like a particularly difficult mod to pull off. It would just depend on how much it would cost to procure the air scoops a la black Challenge car...

Hey Motormouth, did you retrofit your 07-08 JCW front grill or did it come that way on your 09? I have an 08 and was just wondering how the install went? Also, how much was the $$$ damage?

Almost forgot, but are the splitters different now too?

+1 for buying Mini Challenge Parts ... they should offer them to those of us who like to track our cars, but are not looking to spend $65K on a race use only car.

What if a small rock goes into the duct? Can it damage the wheel/brake?

Haha that JCW aerokit brake duct looks like it might provide enough air flow to blow our a small candle.

That was a stock 09 convertible that had the JCW kit installed before it reached the dealer. I have no idea what is involved or the $$ to install it.

This is easily remedied by adding some mesh inside the duct, if not already present.

Those ducts are up high enough that it's unlikely to get a rock in there, although a piece of mesh isn't a bad idea.

I'm still waiting for a duct like Way's on the inlet side but directed at the hub on the outlet side. I can always hope...

This isn't about the colling duct but instead about the JCW aerokit in general. Is there any reason to order it with a new MCS? I would think it would be cheaper overall to order after the car is delivered because then you could sell your original front and rear bumpers.

What fender liner is this from? A challenge car? These holes look huge compared to the original pic.

That's why a few of us have been begging for an inlet duct like Ways, that could be left on all the time, but air directed to the hub, like the Mini Mania set up.

I'm going to go with the TSW BBK with the 1.25 inch rotors, and probably eventually make some home made ducts through the fogs, or just get the Ways.
