New owner questions

Rain Sensor - I know pressing the button at the end of the wiper lever activates the rain sensor. Does pressing it a second time deactivate? If not, how do you turn off Rain Sensor feature?

In my first post I should of said that pressing the button at the end of the wiper lever activates either the intermittent wiper or the rain sensor if quipped with rain sensor. But my question still applies to cars equipped with intermittent or rain sensor. Does pressing a second time deactivate?

Yes. Pushing the button again turns off the rain sense wiping. Also turning off the car will turn off the wiping, and so you will have to remember to activate it again when you start back up.

Thank you!! I knew turning the car off would deactivate rain sensor. But wasn't sure how to deactive it once activated. I figured pressing the button again would be logical...but sometimes logic doesn't seem to apply.
Thanks again.

Note that you can also adjust the rain sensor's sensitivity. I believe there are three settings.

I've been pleasantly surprised by how well the rain sensor works. The wipers will continuously adjust speed anywhere from a slow intermittent to a high-speed constant wipe, completely on their own. I never even need to use the regular fixed-speed settings.

I only use rain-ex. I have never even tried the rain sensor function on my car. In fact the wipers I have, only have been used twice or three times in the past year. And that was in the winter. I am even planning to remove rear wiper , when I get around to it.

Kav,
Did you adjust the rain sensor settings or just go with the default. You state your really happy with it so I just wondered what you had it set at.
Thanks, Finner

Finner, I played with the settings but ended up going back to the default, which seemed to be about perfect anyway. I just checked the manual again and there are four settings, not three like I said above. Mine's at 3 - I think - haven't looked at it recently. But it's fairly easy to change if you find that yours is either too sensitive or not sensitive enough.

I was originally under the impression that the rain sensor would only vary the delay between intermittent wipes, so the first time I had it out in rain I was surprised that it would use all wiper speeds, not just intermittent. Nice feature.

Kav,

Yea, I'm leaving my rain sensors at default settings for now. In my experience, often the default is best. There are usually hundreds of hours of study by engineers...in deciding what is most likely right. So unless something is really wacky I go with the default. After your previous post I looked it up in the manual too.
Thanks, Finner

Is there a light or notification that the rain sensor is turned on? I would like to know if I have turned it on or not. For instance if I go into a car wash it would be nice to see a light or something on the dash as a reminder.

And I agree with the default settings, seems pretty good as set.

Yes there is a notification that comes on the information display in the tac. The settings for the rain sensor need some work though, even if you have it set for low sensitivity or high it seems to have its own mind of when it is going to wipe, lol.

In my experience, "on" will always wipe once, regardless if there is water on the glass or not. So just press it again, and if it does not wipe that should mean it's off.

Could you find a picture of that notification in the tach? I have never seen any indication like that. I have an 07 MCS.

Thanks,
Keith

There is no such idication that your Rain Sensing Wipers are 'ON' while the car is running. I have found that I am most happy with the Rain Sensor adjustment set to 1, I live in the PNW and though rain is very likely the wipers work well at that setting for me.

I've been in driving rain storm and it seemed like the wipers were going to fly off the car they were swooshing so fast.
