Typical timeframe from On Order to Scheduled for Production

Curious from those who have ordered recently what has been the average timeframe after placing an order when the Order Tracking in the Mini Lounge has reflected from going from On Order to Scheduled for Production state? Saw last weeks press release "BMW AG has laid off all 850 workers who worked weekends and has shut plant production down for one week."

I'm still waiting on my MINI (should be in Denver on thursday... though I won't be), and while I don't remember the detail you're asking about, I will say that about the only useful bit of info you'll get from the owner's lounge is the VIN so you can use it to track shipping.

Also, not sure if you've ordered already, but with the layoff news, now might be a better time to buy off the lot. At least until tension at the plant has time to settle down.

It totaly depends on if your dealer had an available slot for you to take. I ordered mine 2/10 and production started 2/12. The dealer just took a speck car and converted it to mine. Normaly it takes around 8 days or so to make the car. To bad the plant was closed all last week so mine should be done on the 25. If your dealer did not have a open produciton slot it could be much longer days or weeks before produciton starts. Back in october all cars were pre sold so you had to wait your turn. Now many are just being built so a pre sold car should move to the front of the line. Your MA should be able to tell you what produciton week your car will be and that will give you an idea when it will start. Keep in mind the order loundge has a delay of some times a week. My other MINI showed in transit and I had been driving it for a week. If you call ask mini they will have more up to date info. The best info comes from the MA since theres is allmost real time. Here is the time line from my first MINI.
Ordered 9/23 to take a week 40 spot
Started 9 27
Booked on ship 10/2
Done 10/3
At Port 10/4 8:14
Load on Ship 10/10 13:54
Set sail 10/10
Discharged From Ship 10/23 23:15
At VDC 10/25
Released from VDC 10/27 (they are closed on Sunday)
Shipped and Arrived at dealer 1:30 10/28
Delevered 10/29 5:00pm

mine was 7 days after placing my order, but production began before the website changed its status. I found this out by calling 800-ASK-MINI

I read on here that I should call ASKMINI about 2 weeks after I have placed my order. When I called after 1 1/2 weeks, my car was practically finished. I never got to hear all the production steps that my car went through.

Yes, recall when I was ordering he had an available slot. Sounds like best going forward to get updates from the MA; going to put a call into him today.

Since there are so few pre sold(priority 1 as MINI calles it) cars being built I hope you to will get put into produciton fast like DDoggJCW and I did. Once you get built the fun part comes trying to figure where your car is in the transit process.

Been trying to reach 800-ASK-MINI all morning, but the call does a fast busy signal sound as if it is not working Is there any other number to try?
