SS Cooper - stripes or no stripes?? (any pics?)

I have just ordered my very first mini! it is '09 cooper SS/Black roof - but can't make up my mind on whether to get the original bonnet stripes or not. I've done a search for pics but it seems most SS/B don't have stripes. Should I get them or not? Anyone has any pics on SS/B with stripes?

i got a sports package on my mini and the bonnet stripes were included. because its just vinyl, i would say put them on and then take them off if you dont like it. HOWEVER, wat the dealer doesnt tell you is that they will charge you an installation fee.

lastly, if you get the black bonnet stripes, there is a white outline around the black stripe...

all in all, i decided not to get them for mine...

Everyone seems to have stripes... I am opting out of them on the sports package because I want my MINI to be a little different than all the others I see on the road. I think the chrome exterior trim option, combined with a chrome scoop on the hood will give it a much nicer (and more distinctive) looks.

Regular bonnet stripes are so R53 . I like the sport stripes better myself. I'd like to see some pics of them installed on a new SS MC.

If I was going black roof, I would go with stripes, but thats just me. If the roof is a different color, may as well have the stripes.

I got my Pure Silver MCS without stripes because I wanted after-market stripes of a different design. Before I put the stripes on I got no respect on the road. It seemed that SUVs would race to cut me off so they wouldn't get caught behind some slow econobox. Doesn't happen so much any more. People are quicker to move to the right to let me by.

There are a lot more options if you go with aftermarket stripes. Your dealer might have a detailing shop they can refer you to or you can probably find one on your own. My stripes were put on at the dealership by a contractor the dealer endorsed. So far, no problems whatsoever.

thanks guys for the postings. Stripes do look sweet on a MCS However, since mine is just a MC with the chrome grill it probably won't look as good with the stripes... and i can always add them on later if i wanna go for a different look.

cheers,
jay

Here is mine. The say that imitation is the most sincere form of flattery. I don't mind a bit.

i originally wanted bonnets, but after designing my mini and then seeing cars on the road (trust me, thats all your going to notice....minis on the road), i realized bonnets are very very common. i wanted a more unique look, so i ordered without.

i can always add later, if i have to....for cheaper.

True. And you can get some very unique looking stripes and designs if you look around. When I was at the dealer I saw a Mini with black on black checkered stripes. The checks alternated between gloss and flat black. Looked really cool!! Had I seen these before I got mine...you never know, I might have opted for them. Too many choices...

I opted for no stripes. As others have said, most have stripes so not having is a little different. Also you don't stick out as much to other people when no stripes (unless you are going for sticking out in a crowd). I consider mine sporty yet conservative.

My R56 has NO STRIPES, I elected not to get them with my sport pack, however my R52 S has stripes, the downside is they stain really easy so keep your car CLEAN. I had to clean these up with car wax, yes car wax.

I have a Sparkling Silver S with sport stripes and love the way they look (and I like how the sport stripe actually goes down the boot as well as over the bonnet).
