Try this for easy seat belt on/off. I always slide the seat all the way back before getting out. it makes the seat belt easy to reach and plenty of room to get in and out. I have cloth seats and since I am short i was concerned that I would put a wear pattern on the side bolster of the seat sliding in to the seat while it is in driving position. Try it. you'll like it.

When I fumble with the windshield front wiper controls (while Im driving) to get one wipe plus wash and I get the rear wiper to come on a dry window ,then I hit the wrong control and the front comes on full blast, and I make the same mistake again and it wont turn off. my mistakes (silly controls)

If you're moving the plastic slider on the belt right up to the buckle after you buckle yourself in, it should not be a problem anymore. You just have to make it part of your routine to slide the plastic slider up to the buckle every time you put it on. Once you have the routine down the problem goes away completely.

Agree. I never have a seatbelt problem, always move the slider to the right.
I love the driver's side visor, but I wish it were a little bigger overall. Pretty minor gripe, I must be easy to please. I think the car is extremely well thought out. They could move the tailpipe further under the car. I haven't burned myself but I think it should be out of harm's way.

I never have these seatbelt issues either, I wonder if it depends on seat position? I am pretty tall so my seat is only about 2 clicks from being all the way back. I do use the "slider" too, but I don't adjust it every time.

Also, when starting the car, it does not have to be in neutral. I have the smart key so I just step on the clutch then press the button.

Although when I looked into importing one from the US the cost of doing so put the price within a couple grand. Stupid importation laws

the only 2 things that bother me are the floor mats that get in the way of the pedals and the turn signals, which I still haven't gotten the hang of!

Use carpet tape on the floor mats. Works wonders.

Until recently I would have said how the doors won't stay open and the number of painful bruises I have as a result.

Lately however I've noticed that my seat doesn't seem secure. When I stop it shifts forward (noticeable bump at the end), and when I accelerate it shifts back. Not a lot, just a fraction of an inch, but's it obvious and annoying...

Ok so this isn't a complaint about the Mini but so far my biggest complaint driving a Mini is how close people ride up on my boot. Big huge SUVs love to pull up super close to me at lights. I want to scream BACK OFF! Just cuz I have a flat boot does not mean you have to get to close. Grrrr.

My 08 MCS came with 2 round things that screw into the carpet under the drivers floor mat, first you have to remove 2 small plugs in the carpet. The top of these things are covered with velcro and hold the mats in place. Look around in your boot for a small plastic bag containing these parts, they are about 3" in dia..

lack of engine compression braking..........with my previous cars I just downshifted going down the long hill near my home and the car would maintain a reasonable speed --- with the MINI I have to ride the brakes all the way down in order to avoid the frequent local speed trap near the bottom.

Ditto on the seat moving a millimeter or two when I brake...

...and I'll add that I can't see any way to fast forward (not track forward) with the audio controls. It's disappointing, because otherwise, the mp3/wma support is much better than in our Honda Civic.

...and finally, MINI fixed my water pump squeal (yay!), but I still have this weird belt squeal whenever my engine is revving at 1200rpm. This is especially annoying because that just happens to be the exact RPM when you start your car...

Here's a new annoyance of mine.

Go to the store, get a few bags of groceries. Plop them down in the front seat and for the next XXX amount of time, I get to hear the annoying chirps that the passenger seatbelt isn't fastened. =/

I've just taken to fastening the seatbelt all the time to avoid that noise. My purse/satchel will sometimes set it off and the dog always does. It really should go off after a while. Mom gets annoyed too that it's demanding she wear her seatbelt as we drive around the parking lot.

AMEN! You pretty much mentioned all the peeves I hated about the car. Some additions:
Tricky gas pedal unless I use the Sport mode. (I had an automatic.)
Using the sport shift mode was ridiculous, rather just leave it in full auto.
Runflat tires suck.
Stereo would reset random mode to continuous mode every time the engine was restarted.
Torque-steer.
Dash and other interior materials scratched too easily and scratches are very visible.

For me, this is exactly the wrong advice, but at least it got me thinking about the problem.

The problem I was having is that the seatbelt would get stuck behind the plastic bulge where the seat back hinge is. I'd fasten the belt and everything seems alright, then the belt would decide to come out from its hiding place move between the bulge and the door, and go slack. My seat position is quite far back, so the belt is extended wrapped around the bulge.

I'm also quite a large person, so if I pull the plastic bit up to the buckle and then unbuckle myself and let the seat belt loose, the buckle will go all the way to the top and stay there, before the belt is tight against the door pillar. So there's a lot of slack belt hanging around the bottom of the seat. Its that slack which is getting tangled up with the bulge.

If I don't slide the plastic slider all the way to the buckle, then the belt can retract and be taught against the door pillar. When I come to grab the belt again, it doesn't get caught up. Now its not comfortable to have the slide anywhere in front of me, so I have to leave the slide against my left hip. Then when I unbuckle the buckle is riding rather low, and I have to go reach for it. However, the belt's stopped getting stuck like it used to.

So like I say, wrong answer, but it pointed me in the right direction.
