Why did you name your car?
Wondering why you named or didnt name your car?
My first name i chose was Lucy, for the roof being red as in lucy ball, But I have a crossfire named Lucy already, my son's car, so since I love Apple Inc. and spend all my money there Apple was born, and she is shiny and delicious!

I wanted to name my car, since it had so much personality...but no name I picked really fit. After a year, a name (word really) popped into my head and stuck. So...technically the CAR wanted this name, not me.
We'd never gotten into the habit of naming our cars, except for the occasional nickname like "the puddle jumper" for a small compact. So I call mine "da MINI" with a Jersey accent.
I nicknamed the wife's BMW the Reichskar which always leads to a punch in the shoulder from the wife or daughter when I say it out loud, for some reason.

I'm leaning towards "Eleanor" the elusive unicorn since I did my test drive and placed my order 6 months ago and it appears it will be another month or two before I catch that horse.
Then reality kicks in and I think to myself "who names their car anyway?".

Originally mine was called Moskow because he is dark silver which reminds me of the Moscow skies and he is always Russian around. After the hijacking which we both survived unscathed I thought it only right that he should be called Moskow Jack.
I named mine MS MINIVER because she is not just a car to me. She's something I've wanted for a long time (I bought her used), and she's the most enjoyable automobile that I've ever owned in my life (61 yrs). So I named her because she's special - she's not just a car. And I named her MS MINIVER after an old British WWII movie starring Greer Garson. She was a great actress and it was a great movie.
Actually this is the first car I have ever named but I did pick Scrappy because it went up against the big rigs and won on a recent trip on the highway I took to Minnesota and back.Small yet scrappy.
Mine had to be British so I ran through the gamut of British names and finally settled on "Nigel". My Garmin unit is set for the British voice and is referred to by all in my family as "Nigel's Brain". My license plate reflects my other interest and says "TH3 WHO".
I named mine Stanley. The car was shipped on the boat Fidelio and when I heard that the first thing that came to my head was Stanley Kubrick's Eyes Wide Shut movie. Although I don't particularly like that movie, I like other Kubrick flicks and I thought Stanley was a good name for a car.
Mine is named after my favorite vampire in Buffy the Vampire Slayer tv series. It just so happens he was British, had white hair, and being a vampire, liked blood, and had a cocky atitude. So since Spike has a white top and is Chili Red, and has a bit of an atitude himself, it only made sense.
Please don't insult Scrub! I've had him nearly a month now, and thanks to him my smile is as shiny as Bob's white roof
You mean....your toothbrush doesn't have a name? ..... (insert awkward silence.....)
Well, for someone who owns a Miata, a Grand Prix and a Lotus, maybe a MINI is just another material possession, but for a lot of us, a MINI is something we've desired for a long time. Me, well, I'm going on eight years, but my day in the sun is coming next month when I order Stella. My wife picked Stella because my MINI needed a name that was graceful, but at the same time, had an attitude when it needed it. It's also Marlon Brando's wife's name in A Streetcar Named Desire, so that seemed fitting.
I named my Mini: "Tinkybot" as in my World of Warcraft character:

I have lots of gnome pics all over Tinkybot, along with viper stripes that are enchanted glowing swords and my steering wheel is the Ironforge draw bridge gate.
Ps- Im joking. I'll never name my Mini. Also, I don't play Warcraft. But this post made me laugh.

Different strokes...
My wife named ours Luigi 10 seconds after seeing it in the dealer's lot. Said it reminded her of the tire salesman in the movie CARS, who is drawn as a yellow Fiat 500. Not a Mini, but close enough for her.
I stopped naming my vehicles after a stretch of bad luck with them in college. However, most of my cars since then have been given names by other people.

I have a friend who once had a POS Subaru Justy that he called the Vampire car. I asked him why, "because once you get in it, it sucks the cool right out of you".
At the same time, I had a POS Subaru Brat that I used to go out to a boarding barn. This same friend named the Brat, Seabisquit.
