Deposits's down, now just have to wait till Dec

Hi All,
I spec'd out my MCS and got myself in line at Rasmussen Mini. I put the deposit in on Wednesday and have already made a change in going from British Racing Green to the Lighting Blue. Other than that I tried to keep it pretty simple:
Lightning Blue, black roof
standard leatherette blk/gray interior
Cold Weather Pkg
Conv Pkg
Prem Pkg
Xenons
LSD
Hi-Fi Sound
Rear Fogs
Chrome Interior
Piano Black Interior
White Indicators

I'm still waffling on the Nav system. I already have a Gamin 670 that works fine for me. But I do like the integration provided by the nav screen.

Congrats and welcome to the waiting game! I get my MINI next month and buy items weekly for it until it arrives....

As for Nav, you will do just fine with the Garmin 670. The MINI Nav is way overpriced and will soon be outdated in a few years....and then you are stuck with it forever in the car. I speak from experience. I own an '06 M Roadster with NAV and it is the worst $2000 I have ever spent in a car. Half the time the directions are wrong and the maps are already outdated...and cost $200 to update! ha! Not to mention, not user friendly. The coolness factor of the NAV wore off quickly, @ least for me. I personally find the built in NAV in the MINI a huge distraction and takes away from the over all look of the MINI interior.

Leather interior would be a better place to put your money as it is more likely to boost resale value over an outdated NAV system in a few years....

Anyhow, WELCOME to NAM....

Ordered my Mini from Rasmussen in July. It should be hitting the tip of Florida later on this evening (going to Texas first I think) Rasmussen was great, I live in Seattle but drove down there to get it because NW Mini sucks. On the nav system, leave it out. Buy an Iphone, I have GPS on it and can see close to real time traffic. Multiple direction services too.

Well at least it will come in time for it to be the nicest XMAS present you will ever get, even if you had to buy it for yourself. And a car for the Holidays is cool. Fun to show it off and drive it during that time of year.

What others said about the NAV. Forget about it. I had one in my BMW 740i. At the time it was a $6000 option. [1997]. The concept was new back then so they were high priced.

But the way the technology changes by the month, you don't want to be stuck with the built in model. And for that kind of money you could get a much better external model, even though the one you have is good enough.

Also research on NAM ["NAV"]. You will find lots of posts that say the MINI NAV sucks.

Put the money into something else.

And ditto on the NAV ruining the MINI look. IMHO it takes away from the retro look. I'd get the chrono package before I got a NAV. Of course, I am biased because my MINI is a 2006 and I have the "old" or "original" speedo. I love that compared to the new look.

Its a long wait but worth it - and its GREAT to see another person realize that Lightning Blue is one of the best colors out there on a MINI. I don't understand why it seems to be so unpopular.

I have to say that I would strongly encourage the anthracite headliner - I know that there are a ton of AH fanboys on here but it looks very nice with the seats. Since you are gettng a sunroof it really classes up the inside - my wife was impressed that it looked so good. She was unsure of it until we saw it in person.

I have some pics of my LiB / White with English Oak and Anthracite if you want to see what it looks like.

I will also agree with the other posters - the NAV is not worth the cost from what I have seen. It does integrate well and it does make better use of the space (I never look at the speedo over there) but $2000? It just seems far too expensive in my opinion. Thankfully you'll get MANY opinions here which will vary a lot.

Good luck! As Tom Petty said the waiting is the hardest part...

Congrats! Personally - I LOVE the NAV system and felt it was a little overpriced.. but it really does a lot more then just Navigate! It integrates voice control, entertainment and displays info on about your MINI! Besides that - I don't want to mess up my interior with a cheap nav system wires hanging... Of course, if money is an option, that would be a reason to pass it by, but if not.. spend it! There also are many post that agree it's a great system.. so the choice is yours, but I would hate to get something and then say I wish I got this... when it's to late!

Agree about the Anthracite headliner... think that would make the interior perfect!!

Congrats Sendero on the order and nicely spec'd out

Regarding the NAV decision I can see your dilemma on whether to add it or not.The NAV offers a lot more then just GPS function though and for me I will add it on my next MCS.But in the meantime I am very happy with my Garmin nuvi 760 with the Kuda mount though.

I also will add either leather/cloth or leather next time too to get the lumbar support even though the leatherette seats are comfortable on long drives.

It is a long wait to Dec. but I am sure time will fly by fast.

I'm not familiar with that linking? Do I need to have other than standard seats in order to get lumbar support? Or is that for adjustable lumbar?

The lumbar seatin is available with the lounge leather/sports seat. I am not sure if ALL sections with the sports seat offer the lumbar.. but I know for sure it is with the Lounge Leather.

Thanks for all the advice guys. I'm going to skip the Nav but am considering the headliner as well as upgrading to the Punch Carbon leather.
