question about selling.....

I am thinking about selling my MINI. I have some serious questions I need to find answers to. First the Facts. I live in Germany, Orginally from Oregon, my MINI is US Spec, and I have free home shipping to east, gulf, and west (long beach)
What do you guys think is the best way to sell my BELOVED MINI. I am unaware of taxes on used vehicles. I dont pay tax on cars in Oregon. Is a used car taxed? I am forced to sell in the next 8 months because my warranty is only good for 2 years here in Germany, whoever buys it gets the full 4 in AMerica.
Im an honest person, how does a person sell a car a person cant test drive?
Also whats a good price for a R56 S with all packs? I saw a dealer asking 31 G for a car w/ 15,000miles on it? WTH? I am thinking 25,500 DOLLARS the car has 30,000Kilometers. is that fair?

I would just try to sell it there in Germany, I'm sure there are plenty of GIs willing to buy it warranty or no warranty.

you can go to www.carmax.com to see what MINIs are going for in the US. they usually have 70-80 for sale.
You must have similar sites in Germany.

It's a nice looking car. Do you have anybody stateside to sell it for you. I would have it sent to a relative or friend in Oregon and have them register it, then go from there. A cross atlantic car sale would be very unlikely...but you never know.

Have you tried selling it there? I'm just assuming you're military. Maybe somebody would be interested locally.

As for price, I think that would be fair. Check blue book, or other online car sites and see what your car would go for.

Ya, I guess the best would be to send here home to the West coast.
What about taxes on used cars? Does CA tax old cars?

In California, the buyer pays sales tax on the car when it is registered. The tax is based on the price paid and the sales tax rate for that location, typically around 8.5%.

Purchases are taxed in most states, cars are no exception. This would be the buyers problem, not yours. Strat has the right idea IMO.

Sales tax is paid when you register the vehicle in Washington. The seller has to write the price paid on the transferred title and the cost of registering the new to you vehicle has the sales tax for that amount tacked onto it.

I would think you could get far more money for the car by selling it in Germany.
