anybody order a 2009 MCS with SPORT PACKAGE?

Hello all... I'm looking for anybody who has ordered a 2009 with the SPORT PACKAGE. I placed an order about 2 weeks ago and haven't gotten a production number or anything... I'm growing very impatient. So, maybe talking to someone else who is dealing with the wait can help.... Is there anybody out there who has to wait longer solely for the sport package like me??? I didn't think it'd be this painful to wait. Especially after selling my 08 MCS, I start to wonder if I should have ever let it go!!

Do not quote me on this, but I thought I heard that the sport package will not be available until the december build month.

You sold an 08 MCS to get an 09 MCS? ... ... ... Why?

To be without a MINI for half a year? What? I have to know...

Calmante,

Man, I have no idea... I regret it everyday. Truly. I listed it on eBay, 1000 above what I had paid to just see what hits I'd get... I figured with 3,500 miles & 4 months old I'd lose money, and if it seemed so, I would just keep it. But, 8 hours later, a lady showed up with cash to my complete disbelief and I let it go. I thought I could go without it, but 2 weeks later I spoke to my same MA and placed an order for the new one. But, I did not expect this big delay for the Sport Package.... do you know by any chance why?

Why didn't you expect the delay? If you go onto the MINI configurator it says its not available until December. They're waiting for DTC to be available.

What do you need from the sport package? You can get everything that's going to be in it (at a price) a la cart, except for the DTC.

True, you're right on them letting one know beforehand... but still, I thought maybe they'd accelerate that. What exactly does the DTC add to it anyway? I just wanted the Sport Package. I'm also getting the Sport Suspension on top of that.... I just want to make sure this car is exactly to my specs, because I want to keep it for about 2 years and not regret something because I was impatient. I've done that before and it is not a good feeling. So, I'm going to try and wait. I've noticed the MCS has engine assisted braking with the Sport Package and does not without it... at least on my 08. Is that correct or no?

That's exactly what I had to do. My order was originally for an '08, but the factory shifted gears and it's now an '09 so I had to pick all the items individually. The price when up like $850.00, oh well.

They don't say much, DTC "allows a greater degree of slipage on the wheels without fully giving up the stability control feature" is about it. Works better than previous DSC systems on more slippery surfaces (like snow) seems to be it.

I'm not sure what you mean by that.

MINI doesn't admit to anything except the sport package is a package of other options you can get individually. I got the sport package on Tristan because it basically gave me the front fogs and spoiler for free, I was going to buy everything else anyway. I didn't get it on Shawn, because I didn't want 17" wheels. I don't notice he acts differently than I'm expecting, but I don't have an MCS with sports package to compare with.

I can't see what the youtube link points to, as the site is blocked here at work, but there's a Fifth Gear episode out there that goes over the benefits of anti-lock brakes, traction control, and stability control.

They summarize it like this:
Anti-lock brakes help maintain control of the vehicle when stopping.
Traction control helps to maintain control when accelerating.
Stability control helps to maintain control when not driving in a straight line (i.e., swerving to avoid a hazard).

This is the same thing I heard from the dealer. If I ordered with Sports Pkg, I'd have to wait till Dec.

So, basically the DTC is if I want to be on a track and get crazy with it? I don't do that at all.... So, is it worth the wait? Are any of you guys going to wait till December for it? I can't even get a production number, and that is killing me! And "btwyx"... when I test drove the MCS with Sport it had the engine assisted braking, and when I drove one without it, no engine assisted braking. Not a big deal, but a slight difference.

What exactly do you mean by "engine assisted braking"?

If you just let off the accelerator it engine brakes, all cars do that. Were you driving an Auto? and by "sport" are you talking about the package or the button? The sport button changes the way the auto selects a gear, that's about all I can think you mean. That's the sport button and all US cars have them, nothing to do with the package.

I had to do the same. I will hate to see the price difference in December when all the items I bought are in one package and cheaper. But, 17's, HIDs, sport suspension, LSD (which might not be around anymore) will be coming my way in about a week.

The sport package isn't available for the 09's until December. Are you sure it isn't just the sport suspension? That is separate from the sport package.

Just an initial disclaimer that I am no authority on cars or high-tech gadgets. I only considered waiting for the sport package because I was purchasing most of the options in the package and it basically represented a significant cost savings on the 17" wheels.

DSC (standard on the '09 MINI) or DTC is the question. If that video is any indication, I am glad I didn't wait. I drive on mostly flat, straight roads here in Florida. I don't need the improved handling dynamics on snowy or icy roads.....do you?

I already waited to order an '09. Why wait to order the sport package when you can piece together most of the options and order now (and join me in the week 41 support group ).

P.S.......Are you a Qantas Pilot? I love Australia and New Zealand and have visited 5 times. I have made some friends there over the years and love to return often. I need buddy passes for my travels but can only offer you a discount on home building materials in return .

I must have missed it. What is the price on the Sports Package? I had ordered all the parts but the wheels so I'm wondering if it may have been worth it instead of doing aftermarket wheels/tires.
