My sisters R56 MCS does the same thing. Try locking the car, then waiting a few and check again. It should go out! Let us know!

It is the vehicles computers are still active. My ranger rover does the same thing they stay active and running for about 2-5 mins after you turn it off. They will become active again as soon as you open the door.

schmoopy, I just brought my new '09 home today (8/6/08) and it did the same thing. after panicking I read your message and the answers on the forum and went out to look. It's been a couple of hours since I parked it but the light is off - and I didn't do anything.
thanks

Well in about a month i will probably learn all of these new aspects of the MINI Cooper.

I am still a little surprised it doesn't lock the doors automatically after you drive off....hmmmmm....

Read the owner's manual, you can set it up so the doors lock automatically after you drive off. You "personalize" a lot of things on your Mini...
