I wish... list

I wish MINI had something similar to this:

I'm aware of the shift light but this integration is soo much better. It also shows the actual engine oil temp as well as a G-meter among other features.

I'd love oil temp and other gauges on the pod/cluster. Otherwise quite happy with the MCS.

On my C6 I have a HUD...love the feature and you can program how it appears, what it monitors and in the track mode even has a G meter...THAT would be a very nice addition to the MCS in particular if it include boost and temp (oil and water which the Vette system has) info...

I'd be happy if I could just get a factory water temp readout and a boost gauge would be nice

Oooh... I want a HUD as well. It'd be nice not to have to look down at some screen for information...

'splain shift lights to me, please. I had one on my '86 VW Golf, and I thought it was for little girlie men who didn't know when to shift. (I was young and judgmental then...) Is there more purpose to it than that? Are they used while racing? I'm pretty sure my VW's wasn't intended for that. It wanted me to shift pretty low in the power band.

I'd love mirrors which remembered there position depending on which key you used. Me and the wife need totally different mirror setups so I need to adjust them everytime I get in. Seats which remembered their position would be nice as well, but I'm not sure its worth the weight to get powered seats.

my butt and my ears tell me when to shift. don't need no lights

I'd much rather have an iPOD interface that didn't suck

In performance driving (autoX or track or running those twisties) one should have eyes and focus on the road and that means down the road..you should not be 'reacting' to the immediate but pro-acting as to what is coming up... point is if you need to look and mentally register analog (which is OK) or digital (bah!) instrumentation then your eyes are not where they should be..thus the shift lights. Brain processes light patterns much faster than reading gauges plus a yellow to red light pattern is quick indicator to shift so as to (1) not over rev engine (pre rev limiter days) and blow something or (2) not to bang the rev limiter which is not really pleasant and certainly not something you want to regularly do to the engine.

If you do not do performance driving...well shift lights can be decorated with tensil and decoration since that is all they do in that case

fully agree I like the fact that the shift lights can be turned off completely when not "needed"

Bigger cup holder.
Auto up windows.
Same for sunroof.
More time.
More road.
Cheaper gas.
Whirled peas. (I don't know why, but everybody seems to ask for them).

And tack on my wish for a rich benefactor to foot the bill.

Very easy to do with a ScanGaugeII. Simultaneous digital readout of four OBC parameters. I usually monitor coolant temp, boost (MAP), mph, and mpg.
