English Oak Automatic

Does anybody know if there is an English Oak shifter for the Automatic like there is for the manual? Maybe an aftermarket product like the carbon fiber shifter for the Auto...

Thx

Thx for your reply. I see a Wood Sport Wheel in the configurator that says it comes with a wood shifter. However, in the graphic it doesn't show the wood shifter if I select Automatic transmission. The option is $500 alone or $250 with the premium package.

Is this the option you're referencing?

I got my custom wood shift **** from Robin Casady, a vendor on the forum. Matches my English Oak trim (see my gallery for pix). I also got a similar ebrake handle later. The **** was around $200 (2 types of wood). Gorgeous. I don't know if he does AT ***** or not, but you can check with him. I have nothing to do with his operation, just thought I'd report my satisfaction with his shift ****.

Thx for the reference and nice pics! I'll check him out of it turns out the English Oak Auto Shift **** is not part of the package...which would be a disappointment.

Thanks Newt.

I don't do shift ***** for the automatic because of the release mechanism in the ****. However, I have customers who have purchased my eBrake handles for their MINIs with automatics.

Walnut and fumed amboyna burl both match the English Oak color well. Newt has African blackwood with an amboyna burl inlay (not fumed). The African blackwood can vary in color from almost black to a nice rich brown.

Robin - thank you for the info. I'll keep that in mind if I decide to get a wood e-brake.

Nice work BTW.

It is only available on the manual. There is no factory option for EO on the automatic's shifter, unfortunately

I did ask my dealer a few months ago. The shifter **** can be ordered (it is part of the EO steering wheel option package). He quoted me around $200. for the **** and it would have to be delaer installed due to the release mechanism.

I wanted the **** BUT not at that cost. I also did not care for the feel of the steering wheel in wood. What I should have done was order the car with the package and sell the steering wheel. Too late now.

Good luck --let me know how it plays out.

How difficult is the installation of the wood ebrake handle? I've got the English Oak interior and while the current ebrake handle matches my stock black leather steering wheel, I'm not too happy with the plastic end of the ebrake handle and wouldn't mind if that handle matched the panel, rather than the controls.

It's really easy. I did a thread with pix when I did my ebrake handle around Christmas. Do a search (maybe ebrake handle replacement by thebignewt or something).

We ordered our Clubbie with the wood mfswheel and it came with a wood shifter ****, and we have an automatic. Just an fyi that it can be ordered for automatics.

Edited to say that if you look at my interior photos, you will see HC ****, that was a freebie from the dealer, we have the wood one here too. Just thought the HC matched with all the other HC stuff.

Thx for the tip. I wonder if the Clubman comes different than the MC. I'll have to check with the dealer.

I need to get my hands on the wood wheel as well - it's possible I won't like the feel (although it sure looks nice in pics

Thx for the info. Will keep you posted...

I have the wood wheel and auto shifter. At first the wheel felt a little different but I quickly got used to it. Now - like everything else quirky on my BlueBelle - I love it!

You might want to see one in person before deciding...

OK for my self-indulgent story... When I was a kid my mom used to click her wedding band on the wheel of a supped up station wagon as she roared around the corners on our country road. - So guess what my kids hear?

That "Web Site" on his photo board to "find out more about RoadRunner" takes you to Time Warner Cable:
*Promotional pricing. Pricing may vary by division. Standard service price applies after promotional period.
**Up to 3 times the speed of DSL claim is based on Road Runner's standard maximum download speed of 5.0 Mbps versus the standard DSL package’s maximum download speed of 1.5 Mbps. Speed comparison is based on a typical DSL package and may vary by area. Actual speeds may vary.
Our local cable used to be Time Warner but they sold us out to Comcast for higher prices on poorer service
and I don't want their telephone service either.

I'm also on a Mac right now - not sure if that makes a difference.

Thanks for the link to the handle install. I'm tempted to do it, that would be a nice addition. I really don't like the stock plastic and vinyl handle.

BTW: while at MTTS I drove a Mini with the factory wood steering wheel. I wasn't too crazy about it; it didn't look as nice as I would want and the polished wood had a negative effect on how well I could grip the wheel.

More likely your cable modem.

I began with Apple, long ago; but then my primary software provider
(again after selling out to conglomerate) stopped programing for Mac's.

I now keep two independent WinXP Systems up-to-date for stability.
