Dash surface and steering wheel color

I keep seeing both light grey and dark grey dash surfaces and steering wheels in different MINIs. I wonder if this is automatically linked to the color of the car? Or is this older vs. newer models. I want to get a Pepper White but I much prefer the dark dash / steering wheel. Does anyone know if this is possible to get?

What color exteriors get matched with the light vs. dark dash / wheel ?

Thanks

It may just be funny lighting, but I don't think there are different steering wheel colors, other than the following, all of which costs extra:

-JCW Carbon fiber inserts
-Beige leather wheel
-Brown leather wheel

But if you see a black wheel, I think they're all the same. Feel free to correct me if I'm wrong.

You should ask the configurator. Some options default to one thing or another depending on exterior colour, some can be changed some they don't allow.

I've also never noticed any options for steering wheel colour, apart from the wood ones.

I have a newly purchased '08 PW/PW MCS with Redwood Lounge Leather interior, and the dash and steering wheel are both dark. That combo looks great with piano black and the anthracite headliner.

ya it's the light, if you look at the top of the dash on the "lighter" car that's lighter too, it's all in the light

Its the light. You're second picture has a wall in front of the MINI blocking the light coming in. I noticed this in some of my pictures, like these both of Shawn:

The first photo is over-exposed, but the color balance is neutral. The second photo is better exposed (perhaps a little dark) but the color balance is off. It is lacking red (too blue-green or cyan).

Ok. Thanks everyone. I guess I'm just going a little insane considering all the possibilities that MINI offers. It's time to stop looking and place my order
