Acck! there is NFR paint on my tire! what should I do?
So I read that Mini is supposed to disclose damage to you that >3% of vehicle value. I just discovered in week 6 of ownership that there is NFR paint on one of the rims of my front wheels of my beautiful NFR cooper (just a touch of overspray). I can't see any imperfections in the paint, but something must have happened. This must be from VDC repair right? So my question is, paint work is pretty expensive, no? So I'm having trouble understanding how having some portion of my car repainted would have an cost of less than ~$640, which would put it over the disclosure limit.
Does anyone have any tips on how to deal with this? I will contact my MA and try to figure out what happened, but this is pretty annoying. I know lots of people have had little things happen, but this seems pretty sloppy.

I don't think the poster is that concerned about getting it fixed. I think he or she is more concerned that something happened to the car before it was delivered and no one said anything about it. That would be my main concern too. I would want to know what was damaged and how serious it was.

From what I can see, there does not appear to be any imperfections in the paint, and I can't see any kind of blending line (not that I'm an expert). However, I'm pretty concerned that no one felt it necessary to cover the tire during painting. It's unfortunate that I don't know how the rim was oriented while being painted, because the overspray is only on one spoke. I just feel like the chance of paint work (at least the kind where your tire could get caught in the crossfire) being over the disclosure limit is pretty large.

Take it to a good body shop and have them measure the paint thickness at various points on different panels. Also look for tape lines. It if's been painted, an expert body shop will be able to tell. If it HAS been painted, you need to find out why, as this can negatively affect resale value in the future.

okay, problem solved. My MA was actually really good with this (probably b/c the laws here for damage disclosure are way more restrictive than BMW's internal policy) and provided me with the VDC report. I also took it to my favorite body shop and had them take a look. Turns out only part of the lower bumper was resprayed, almost totally below the "eye-line." Why they didn't mask the tire is beyond me. Anyway, I was pretty impressed with the dealer service I received; I thought there would be much more of a "too bad" attitude.
