Do you drive with your headlights on all the time?
Since all lights go off as soon as you turn off the ignition and exit the car, I just leave my headlights switched on all the time. Curious as to how many of us drive with headlights on all the time.
I leave the auto-on headlights on all the time -- the MINI does the automatic battery saver thing anyway...but one of the differences between my '04 MCS and my '07 MCS that I DIDN"T like was that the "daytime running lights" are actually just the headlights. The '04 were dimmer, and were actual running lights. The '07 lights are the exact same brightness...so it's almost a moot point to use 'em!

Yes, I noticed that myself. The R53s daytime running lights are the headlights at 50% luminosity. The R56 is 100% brightness of the headlights.
I keep my auto headlights on and I also have the daytime running lights on all of the time.
My daytime running lights are only the upper portion of the fogs...if you click to the first click, you get the lower portion of the fogs...the next click turns the headlights on
I use daytime running lights in my R56. The only thing moving the headlight switch from off to on does for me is give me dash lights and those nice mood things.

The first time I saw that I thought ... "Wow how cool!" Had no clue when I got the fogs that I'd get running lights like that.
To answer the question I use the running lights during the day & the headlights at night.
I probably overestimate the value of running with lights on during the day, but I make a point to keep my headlights on during my morning commute. I've had one too many close calls with sleepy drivers on my neighborhood streets; my hope is that the headlights give me a slight edge for visibility. Once I'm on the highway, I turn 'em off again.
I drive with my lights on in the morning and if its cloudy or raining. Dark silver tends to blend into the road and I have had a few close calls where people havent seen me.
I have mine on all the time, it's a safety thing really. I don't want to have some Dodge Ram merge into me because he could be bothered to look closely.

If it's saved me just ONE time - it makes sense to do. Impossible to prove, but I'm going with it.

Mine are on all the time. I tried the DRLs but when you turn on your lights at night they stay on no matter what. So if you are waiting for someone outside a store, you can't turn your lights off! Kinda goofy design.
I have Xenons and don't want them firing up everytime I start the car. My understanding is that the igniters can burn out and are expensive to replace. The Xenon lights are supposed to last a longtime, it's just the igniters that are stressed by frequent fire-ups. So, if I'm running errands with lots of stops, no lights. If I think the situation calls for lights I'll turn them on.
Some of the conditions I turn them on:
Country road with oncoming traffic driving into the sun.
Long trips
Poor light (overcast, rain, fog, dusk...)
