Seat Loose?

Does anyone elses MINI's Drivers side seatback have some play in it, Like an inch or two....when sitting down the seatback moves back and forth. Mine does and its driving me nutz! Compared to my passenger seat which is solid as a rock.
I am curious if anyones has play in it, when your sitting in the seat the seatback is a little loose? just wish I could swap my two seats and I would be content. I'm contacting Mini to try and get this resolved.

I feel a little movement from my seat back when I stop. It's not much, but I do notice it. It is most certainly caused by the design of the seat being that it has to fold down to let someone into the back seat. Is that what you are feeling?

Are you all stopping suddenly or gently - I can see if you're coming to a sudden stop and you lurch forward and the seat back will 'give', but under normal circumstances..........?

165. Count me in the rocker group.
It isn't so bad unless I am braking hard, then I hardly notice it over the screaming.

Yeah What I am trying to get at is, my passenger seat is very solid has no play whatsoever, and that seat even slides to let passengers in the rear just like the drivers side.

But I've been in alot of different cars ford, vw, landrover, honda toyota, and every seatback is solid and I just think that if the passenger seat is solid and has no give then the drivers seat should be the same, giving I paid alot of money for this car and its made by parent BMW, So I figured it would have quality to it.

Its been in the shop twice, both times replaced the upper seatback frame which also houses the recliners...... and they cant seem to fix the problem, it was never loose when I first got the car new last July, so I dont know what could be causing it.

By the way I usually stop nice and easy & occasionally would have to hit the brakes for a bad driver in front, and yeah I could really feel give when stopping quick, but its just the whole comfort quality issue that bugs me....when sitting in the seat its just the mental, "hmm this isnt right it shouldnt be dong this" feeling.

Anyone find a solution to this yet? It is driving me nutz. Happens under hard braking and acceleration. Not sure it is the seat back as much as the seat in the tracks itself.

Just noticed this is for the 07+ Mini's..mine is an 05'

I have the problem as well

I noticed play in my drivers' side back seat after a weekend trip where I had the seats folded down. The play was causing a rattle sound when I drove over bumps. Took the car into dealer on Friday to have it fixed. Another weekend trip with the seats down and the rattle is back. With only 5,000 miles on the car I'm starting to have concerns about reliability and build quality. Looks like I'm headed back to the dealer.

CHeck the bolts that hold the seat to the sliders. In my '02 MCS the bolts backed out, causing what felt like a loose seat back. It was actually the whole seat rocking. Eventually the last bolt came out, and the seat flipped back. Quite an experience while driving . The bolts attach to #4 in this diagram at realoem:

http://www.realoem.com/bmw/showparts...58&hg=52&fg=10

You have to remove the side cover for the seat to get access to the bolts. When I looked around under the car I found the bolts in the carpeting under the seat. They did not have lock washers and had no signs of lock-tite, so it was only a matter of time before they backed out. I'm having a hard time aligning the feet with the slider to get the bolts back in; I'll probably have to take it to the dealer to get the correct adjustment.
