My sunroof is tinted and has the checkerboard graphic. It has not gotten stuck during this past week of temps in the high 90s F and she rarely sits in the shade. I've opened the sunroof every day to cool the car out before starting her up. Hope this helps.
yeah, mine is tinted and it has stuck once so far when it was about 100 outside. there is another thread on here about this issue and I believe people with non-tinted windows are also having this issue.
Highest my temp gauge in MINI was 98. If it does go triple digit I'll open the sunroof and see. Mine's an '07 but I don't know if that has anything to do with anything.
I think the point of this particular thread is to find out if tinting the sunroof helps with the sticking issue (we already know it can affect non-tinted sunroofs). I have sunshades for my sunroof and I think they help with the sticking issue, but I want to give it a few more days to see.
Just wondering if it is from heating up, would tint make a difference.
Yup...I have 20% tint too to boot. My car sits out in sun all day...and if I don't vent it in the morning...then she gets stuck for about a good 3 minutes of trying to open'er up.
I might wait till they find out what the problem is...If they have to replace the whole unit including glass (highly doubtful), then you'll have to tint twice. That is what I'm faced with now.
If you are having problems with the sunroof I would wait to get it tinted as they might end up having to replace the whole sunroof and you would lose the tint. I'm waiting for a while to tint my windows to make sure my Mini's sunroof doesn't end up sticking.
If they replace the sunroof they don't replace the glass - only the cartridge/carrier. This could easily end up as the solution to fix yoru sunroof too.
