Where are they training their technicians?

I guess NOT enough!!!! My MCS with JCW tuning kit just had oil spilling out of the turbo this arvo! Smoke everywhere and guess what? The dealer who installed my JCW kit did not tighten the oil line properly! Now the whole engine bay is splashed with oil everywhere! This is when they took 2 and a half days to install the damn thing in the first place and still did not get it right. Needless to say I did not take it back to the same dealer to fix the mess but I did give them a 'nice' phone call. Now I am left without transport for the next day or so and probably over the weekend as well! Should I name and shame????

NOT HAPPY JANE! (fellow aussies, you know what I mean!)

Firstoff...... Please do not categorize us (techs). Its not all of our faults that yours happen to not be up to par. Am I missing something? why was there an oil line removed to install a JCW kit??? Is this the stage 1 kit? I don't recall EVER removing an oil line to do this add on. I can understand you being upset but dont jump to the gun do fast and label us all... Thats like being racist against MINI Techs. There are plenty of damn good techs out there that deal with alot more than they should.

Secondly I hope you find someone who will help you resolve this. But be careful, hopefully they didn't train the next Tech at the same place as the first guy......

+1 on the last statement.

There are good and bad professionals in every field. -so no need to generalize.

That said, this is why I do all repairs myself. I don't trust others to work on my car. Plus I enjoy cracking open a beer or two and spending the weekend in the garage working.

The OP is located in Australia, so I am guessing he had the european version of the JCW tuning kit installed. The european version of the kit contains few additional parts which the US version does not have, so that's probably why they had to remove the oil line.

sorry I did not realise I was generalising...

First off, my apologies! I did not mean to offend every tech. Maybe my title should have been 'where is my ex-dealer training their tech?'

I am fully aware that there are good and bad ones out there, applies to everything! However, I ONLY meant to refer to the mob that installed my JCW tuning kit and yes, in Aus, it does include changing the exhaust manifold hence the removal of the turbo etc etc. They say a tech has spent 2 and a half days installing the kit, COME ON! But like you said, there is probably a very highly skilled tech at the said dealership who might get offended by my comments.

I am just so p**s off that my new baby is in this state! I blame the dealership for bad after sales customer service (which i have had a few leading up to this) and for the supervisior (good or bad tech) to send out a car without double checking the work. THEREFORE in my own defence, I did ask in my first post 'should I name and shame' which will at least point out the bad?

Understood, and again sorry to hear about your MINI being down. I know that feeling and it sucks. I hope it gets fixed and returned shortly so you can continue to MOTOR and enjoy everything your MINI has to offer. Don't let one bad experience ruin the taste in your mouth. Enjoy your MINI!!!

Thanks, anyway that's the end of my rant. The MCS has been fixed and will be picking it up later this morning. I am happy to say that this other dealer service has cleaned my engine bay AND threw in an oil change rather than just topping it up.
