Has anyone tried ordering this Euro part?

The European wheel well trim does not have the reflector like the US one. Anyone successful in getting a dealer to order the european part?

Isn't the reflector a legal requirement in the USA?

Q: Isn't the reflector a legal requirement in the USA?
A: So, what? I heard the speed limit on many US highways is 55 or 65mph, but that many people exceed this limit.

Yeah, ask the NAM member who ignored his state's requirement for a front license plate and instead installed an European design novelty plate and received a ticket.

If all else fails, call Marcus in the service department at Peter Nick BMW / Mini (the staff is heavy with English speaking staff). Marcus is a Mini order and regular at the Nurburgring. If you really, really want a Euro part and can't find it, call and order it direct. The dollar is weak, and their sales tax is high, but if you have to have a part.....

Peter Nick GMBH
Haendelstrasse 10 - 12, DE-69469 Weinheim

Telefon: +49 (0)6201 63041 ,
Fax: +49 (0)6201 63104

eMail: Peter-Nick@mobile.de. Besuchen Sie auch http://www.bmw.de/so_nick.

So, from the States that would be 00-49-6201-63041. We are six hours ahead of NY, so call when you get up in the morning....

European parts through US dealerships are hit and miss. Just call up a local dealer and give them the number and see if its in the system andunder what description.

yes it is, this is a common change in the bmw world. typically bmw folks will go with painted to match reflectors since their reflector is part of the bumper.

yes this can happen. at least in CA, the front plate requirement is enforced very strictly but not the reflector.

If you can't order the part. I think that Out Motoring sells black out tint for the reflectors that greatly reduces the appearance.
