Warning Lights!

I know that recently, there was a thread about a triangle with a circular arrow around it (ASC off light). Someone suggested that it was the SZL module that needed to be replaced. I'm getting that warning plus the brake light warning lights up on the tach as well as a triangle with an exclaimation mark in the center in the center display of the tach.

What do you think this is? It's been coming on more and more over the past several days.

Okay, you have the DSC light on (meaning that DSC is off), and you also have a warning light that says the word "brake" on it, right? That is actually for the parking brake, not your "regular" brakes. Have you had problems with the turn signals not cancelling? Or do the windshield wipers sweep either before the engine is turned on, or after it is off (not while the engine is running)? That is the quartet of "symptoms" for the SZL module failure, but some have reported failure without all four present.

You might simply have a failure of the DSC by itself, too. Or, as some have suggested, a low brake fluid level. Why not present your car to the dealer and get their opinion? You've got a dealer in San Antonio.

If you had the Navigation system and you got those warning symbols, you would also get an additional readout on the screen (DSC control malfunction, reduce speed and have it checked) or words to that effect. This happened to me twice and reset itself each time. I did not have any drivability problems or other conditions. When I eventually got in for service they were able to read the codes and they did replace that module.

Well, I do not have DSC and yes, I get the ASC/DSC light triangle with a circle arrow around it. I also get the brake light right next to it. THen the center display on the tach lights up with an exclaimation point and a circle around it. This lasts for 20 seconds or so and then shuts off.

It's irradict and comes on with little provocation or reason. I called the dealer and they thought it might be some sensor related to the ASC, but didn't think it was the entire SZL or what ever. I've got an appointment with them next thursday. I'll report back!

This exact same thing happened to me

And when I brought it to the dealer, turns out it was indeed just low brake fluid level. They topped it off and gave the car a nice wash, and no scary lights since then.

I did mention to the service advisor why the heck they'd have a bunch of different symbols go off in sequence instead of just "low brake fluid"...

You two get the prize! I took it into Mini of SA today and dropped my baby off. They gave me an 08 BMW to drive for the day! However nice it was, I was more pleased driving home in my Mini!!!!!!!

As it turns out, I installed a stereo system immediately after bringing my |MCS home. THis required removal of both seats. After reassembling my interior, an airbag failure light surfaced. They wanted $125 US dollars to reprogram the car. Since then, not only did the airbag light stay on, but the intermittant brake light and ASC light would pop on.

They reset the computer and ..................drum rooooooooll....................... (topped the brake fluid reservoir) and guess what happened????????????????? No lights for at least 8 hours! Seems that this fixed the freaking problem, but Maltese, I'm with you bro, why not just say............... brake fluid low bone head!

PM me to know where to send the prize to! and as always! Thank you , Thank you, Thank you!!!!!!!
