Auto up Window via remote? anything out yet?

I've been waiting since I got my R56 to get a module that would auto close the windows via remote like the one that was available for the first gen. MINIs. At first I was waiting on outmotoring to get a unit, but turns out their supplier is not making one for the R56. I know the first gen had at least two options. With summer coming up, I'm getting desperate and wanted to make sure I'm not missing out on anything.

Here's the unit that I had on my first gen:
http://www.outmotoring.com/mini-coop...up-module.html

At the very least maybe interest will spark someone to develop the unit? Or if possible how to use the first gen unit on the R56.

i have the comfort access and we do have auto up. you have to use your valet key to use it. which i think is pretty stupid you can roll your window down by holding the unlock button but you cant roll it back up by holding the lock button.

You don't have to use the valet key, you can hold down the black button on the door handle (same to lower the windows/tilt the sunroof).

The key that goes into the door handle is needed to make the windows go up if you don't have comfort access. I do not understand why MINI couldn't make holding the lock button on the remote make all he windows close.

if by valet key you mean the metal physical key that slides out of the main fob... that isnt a valet key. You cannot drive the car with just that key in hand.

I'm familiar with the way the comfort access works, but I actually didn't get it because I was concerned that a module like the one for the first gen wouldn't work with it. I liked the one via the remote because you can just walk away and have the windows roll up. Makes for a very quick and slick exit.

Does the R56 remote reach far enough for it to actually matter? I have no idea how many times i've gone to open my boot standing AT the back of the car (Literally less than a foot away) and it takes 3-4 seconds of clicking and waving the key around like an idiot for it to work.

There's one thing American car manufacturer's do right, keyless entry. Most American cars have keyless entry that reaches 75-100 feet. I'm lucky if I can get my doors to open touching the key to the damn license plate.

It's not that quick. It takeas a few seconds for the remote to be "sensed" and then it takes holding the button down the whole time to get the windows closed. Much easier to do the windows from inside the car......at least for me

Hm... are you familiar with the module? It's very quick. You just push lock, then unlock. After which, the module locks the doors and close the windows. You don't have to hold anything, takes no longer than just locking the doors.

I have the module that is linked above, and have been in contact with the manufacturer on wiring it to an R56. I had in my previous car (G35) and should be able to get it to work with the Cooper.

When it gets nice outside, I'll give it a shot and let everyone know how it goes...

Just an FYI to those of youl (like me) , Stuck with the first generation R56 (the '07) MINI does not, and has no plans to make a retrofit to allow us one touch close on our power windows.
At least according to the customer rep that responded to my query from their web page.

SO If anyone does develop a module, software, upgrade to give us folks who jumped into the R56 TOO EARLY, the chance to join with the res of the civilised world with the ability to close our windows with the single (and short) touch of the button, please keep us apraised.

Thanks for the info, I will look into it. Hoping to spend less than 200 for it though, so we'll see.

Thanks for the news. It seems as though the wiring can be transferred. I wish the manufacturer would take some time to investigate how to wire into the new Coopers. Keep us updated and I really loved this unit and am saddened to be without it. Hope to hear back soon, if not, you might get a PM or two asking you about it.

Comfort package puts a button on your handle which you can push and hold to close your windows. Also allows you to unlock and start car w/o using remote. The module is a separate aftermarket item that allows you to close your windows via the remote. Simple to install, simple to operate and is really cool.

Trust me, though, its on the to-do list. Theres nothing worse that having a part sitting around waiting to be installed. I just hate working in the cold...

Actually, my MINI's remote seems to be working quite well from a reasonable distance away from the car. With one touch on the button, the doors or the boot unlock right away. I don't have any of the issues you described.

Sorry to hear you got the flu, seems there's been quite a big rate of infection this year. Can't wait to hear if you are able to get it to work though, thanks for checking in on the thread.

I agree. I think rustyboy perhaps didn't realize you have to hold down the boot release button for the boot to open. A single push is not how it operates.
