R56 2007 MCS Alarm System - Remote Start

Anyone have a 2007+ MCS that has a aftermarket alarm with remote start installed? If so what brand/model did you get? Also can you tell me if you have had any buyers remorse or if there is anything you wish you had done differently? Basically i'm looking to see first if it can be done and the pros/cons.

One last thing how much did it cost all together?

Thanks in advance for the info!

im pretty sure someone else asked this question before...

the answer was that with the complexity of the MINI electronics, no one dares to install a remote start or even aftermarket alarm system.

The problem is that almost every aspect of the MINI is controlled through its computer. If you screw something up, your warranty is gone. not to mention your car could get really messed up.

hmm.. interesting. I knew it was really difficult, but i thought some AEM would have gotten around it. Looking at your profile ghosthound your from cali so i'm sure if there were anyone that could do it correctly it would be out there... so seeing that your concern about doing it significantly squishes my dreams of having remote start/alarm

Still haven't seen one in a MINI yet. I am still waiting for the computer code to be cracked....

I think Mini has an alarm you can buy from them for $225 list.

I have the factory alarm and it works well. So far no neighbors are knocking on my door at 3:00 am in the morning telling me to shut it off.

I am interested in the remote start if anyone knows of one that works well.

I used the Clifford Matrix on my last car. Was an excellent alarm system. I don't see why it couldn't work on a Mini. Then again, maybe not.

My suggestion, find a setup you like and e-mail the manufacturer and ask.

That would be cool. It would definitely probably be pretty complet, but could work if someone knew how to tap into the exlectronics. Would need something to override the clutch being depressed for the manual and brake pedal. Probably want something to not allow it to start if in gear lol

My last car had a remote start and it was the best feature of any car i've ever owned. You need an automatic to have a remote starter. I actual built my Mini with the Automatic, just waiting when an official Mini remote starter is available. These winters are going to kill me!!!
