2007 R56 BURNED DOWN

My friend's 2007 R56 BURNED TO A CRISP this morning in Brooklyn.

I don't have all the details...but basically his friend was driving and all of a sudden the cabin started filling with smoke and she tried to pull over, hit the guard rail....and had to get PULLED out of the car by good samaritans who thankfully stopped to help.

Nobody got hurt thank goodness.

I remember seeing a thread about a couple who parked their MINI, went to dinner, and came out to see it in flames. Evidently the rear caught fire somehow....I'll post more details as I find them.

The pictures speak for themselves. Completely stock and non-modded.

Quite a picture. When I was in college, an ambulance I was driving caught fire. Went up in flames while it was idling in the parking lot of a nursing home.

Scarry!

Glad to hear no one was hurt and yes, keep us posted as to what started the fire. And, what color was it?

Ouch... and I thought it was the turbo causing heat issues! (that's not an S)

In all seriousness though, glad everyone's ok. Sounds like a letter to MINI USA is in order.

I'm glad someone was able to manage to pull her out!!!
that's how my cousin passed away recently he was unable to get out of the car while it was ablaze, bystanders tried to get him out but the flame was to intense. God bless those people that pulled her out, a car can be replaced but a life can't...

Thanks everybody - the smoke was so bad that she couldn't get out by herself!!! Makes you think about what's important in your life...and what's not so important. Whatever issues you may have, at least you're still around to experience it.....

Wow that is a hardcore hot blaze. It baked the paint right off, melted the bumpers ,and glass. Impressive. I wonder if they'll ever find out what caused it?

WOW they finally found a way to make the R56 look good.

I'm glad no one got hurt that could have ended very badly.

Give us a break. Are you saying that an R53 never burned up? I remember a thread about a defect of this nature. Gee--could it be this?

Why inject garbage into a serious thread?

for the MINI; for the fact of no serious injuries.

I hope and pray this is a fluke and not a design flaw. I would hate to see something analogous to the early Gen 1 power steering pump fires crop up again...

Oh My God - not another one!!!

You are right about a thread - besides the other one already posted - it was our car that was the first to burn 3 years ago - here is the thread:
https://www.northamericanmotoring.co...Tragedy+Struck

I'm really sorry to see yet another one go up in smoke. I'm SO glad that nobody was hurt...
