R56 Seatbelt and Doorcards Woes
Seatbelt and Doorcards Woes
just a word of warning... be careful with your seat belts when you close your doors. If your seat is far enough back, the seatbelt buckle will get jammed between your seat and the doorcard which makes a small dent in the doorcard and can also damage your seats. I checked both doors and they both has small dents and the driver side seat has an indentation of where the seatbelt buckle always dug itself into the seat.
so anyway, just be aware of this, luckily my seats are not ripped and although that bugs me about the door panels, im not gonna cry over it.

There's a slim little slider on the belt that you can raise to a more useful level. When the belt isn't strapped on, raise it to just about your shoulder-line. It won't happen again and you'll always know where to reach for your belt too.
i just wish i knew this earlier
I have an unusual dent on my door, and still can't figure it out. I first saw it when I came out of the Post Office, and assumed the car next to me had dinged it. The thing is, the door edge itself is fine; the damage is to the first 1/2" of the panel it meets--there are both a couple of small chips in the paint, and also a small RISE in the metal--hard to explain, but the only way we can see it happening is if the seat belt metal had been caught in the door when it was closed. Neither one of us can remember such an event, and I do have the little slider thingie adjusted so that it stays up near the top. And my car has been washed regularly, with no one noticing damage. This is pretty obvious, as I say, I noticed it in a parking lot.
Anyone want to venture a guess as how this could have occurred?

inside door panel, on the original mini's they really were nothing more than a card.

When I picked my car up at the dealership, there was the dent in the doorcard too! The slider fixes the problem. Be careful, over time, the slider drops over time so you'll need to readjust periodically.
