Had Any Remorse For Included (or Unincluded) Options?

As I'm sure you all did, I spent hours with the configurator before sending the build to my dealer. Now, as my MINI passes through the 'birth canal' (ewww, MINIUSA), I find myself wishing I had chosen an alternate build. Anthracite, non-metalic, iPod connection, Hi-Fi... the list goes on.

So my question is this. Did you experience any remorse for an item you added, or chose not to add, after your new baby arrived?

I haven't picked up my MINI yet (SATURDAY!), but the only thing I wanted, but couldn't get due to legal restrictions were the rear fog lights.

I may regret the fact that I didn't order the HD radio, but I'm not too disappointed by that.

Absolutely none. Did my research beforehand to see what the must haves were (anthacite headliner, rear fogs, MFSW, etc). Made sure that I knew exactly what I needed in the configurator. FInally went to the dealer to check out said must haves and what I needed. Placed my order and no regrets.

Wish I had ordered iPod Integration, but the cost would have been the same as doing it now. It was a dealer install at the time. Not sure if it still is.

Agreed...I learned a lot from my '03 MINI and (with more options now available) dialed this one in perfectly to suit me. That said...I don't go for all the gadgets, or the packages, and having a reasonably priced MINI maked me grin.

Could definitely do without the bluetooth integration. The earpiece on my phone would do as well and cost a lot less.

I haven't yet received my ordered MINI, so take my response for what it's worth.

The day after placing my order, I contacted my MA about upgrading the seats to the leather option, but it was too late to make changes. (My wife was more interested in the leather than I, but I wanted to do the upgrade to surprise her.) In the mean time, NAM has returned my interest to that of the "mere" leatherette, so I'm happy that I wasn't able to make the change.

Having further time to mull things over, I think I'd have been okay with skipping the PDC, but I haven't played with it, so who knows.

My car is coming with 17" All-Season RF tires that have the "asterisk" style hubs. I *could have* receive the car with 17" Performance RF tires with the web spokes (which would have looked nicer) and then immediately swapped those for a purchased set of 16" wheels with snow or all-season tires. My long term plan is to end up with two sets of wheels -- 16" for poor-weather months and 17" for the rest of the year. Had I thought things through a bit more up front, I could have ended up with the 17" with the more attractive web-spokes as desired.

That's it so far without having received the car. I'm mildly concerned about the auto A/C being a waste, in addition to not loving my stock interior (no anthracite, no interior color line).

We'll see next week, hopefully!

In retrospect, I would have liked the LSD option, but given that I did not know it existed all is good.

I wish, I wish, I wish I had done a bit more review here on NAM. My dealer is 250 miles away (getting service could be interesting) but I couldn't pop in and see options in person. I think I'm kicking myself most on going with the stock headliner. We'll see in a couple months!

I really wouldn't worry about it. I like the dark headliner too, but with a lighter colored car with a white roof, the standard one will look just fine.

Remember, only weirdos like us sit around thinking about what color the interior roof is going to look like.

I wish I had ordered the driving lights...

They add a lot of character to the car.

I am glad I spent the extra hundred bucks so I have a full toggle panel...I know it would have driven me nuts.

Full Toggle Panel? What is that... one more thing for me to worry about?

I could have lived without the auto headlights (though I think I was obligated to buy them in one of the packages)and I have grown to like the clear lenses which I skipped.
Had I knwon that also included the clears in the front headlights, I would have added them.

The only thing I regret is the fact that my MA didn't notify me of the fact that the iPod adapter had to be installed by a MINI authorized shop and let me drive 700+ miles home with it, with the plan of having my husband, a mechanic, install it. So now I have an iPod adapter in a box until spring when the roads are better and I can make another 1400 mile round trip.
Other than that, I got everything I wanted, and if there's something out there that I might like, I'm happy in my ignorance. The couple of extras I wanted to add, but didn't, were just things that weren't really necessary for me (like bigger wheels).

I think I should have gotten the auto-rain sensor and maybe NAV, if only to let me access more options that I can't access via OBC.

You can change your order up until it enter production. Whats an extra $200 in the scheme of things?

I have the same color car as you do and, as I mentioned in another post, the standard headlliner looks great. In my opinion, it makes the inside of a small car more open feeling because it is lighter. A dark color always makes a room look smaller.

They both look nice - you'll forget all about it when you start driving it!

I'm new to MINI's and every time I see another MINI, I think, "Maybe I should have gotten this option or that option."

The bottom line though is that the Mini is just a great fun car and you're going to love it no matter which options you get or don't get.

Yes, I would have changed the color to blue metallic and ordered Sirius radio. Also would have ordered the rear fog lights. I think optional wheels would have been a good idea too.

I bought my mini off the lot with most of the options I was going to order. Sometimes I wish I could have gotten heated seats and sport suspension. However, I think the redwood leather and the Bluetooth make up for it.

I guess it’s knowing what you COULD have gotten that drives people nuts. That's what makes the Mini so special is how highly customizable they are. If we would have just bought a Civic or something similar, you might get one or two packages with set features. That’s it, no customization. With the Mini you can build it how you want it.

I pretty much ordered every option (R53), so no regrets here...

Except maybe that I wish I hadn't ordered the H/K stereo.

That's a good point, that we have so many choices. I never worried about our Honda Odyssey becuase it came in three trim lines. You either had or didn't have... I guess I've never had so many choices...
