Factory bluetooth $2000 dealer install???

We didn't get the bluetooth option and with CA going to no handheld its obviously a good idea. I called a dealer who said although its already wired for it the cost of putting in the module is $2000!!

Can this be right?

I was quoted $1500... I'm looking for other options.

How about getting one of the aftermarket GPS units that does bluetooth? Would be a LOT cheaper.

Or just get one of those Borg style headsets and put $1975 in the bank toward something else.

The full-blown OEM Bluetooth is (and has always been, in the 1st Gen as well) very pricey. In my opinion, it's only worth it for hardcore gadget people who also have the OEM Nav (regardless of 1st Generation or 2nd Generation), because it truly adds some great integration features if you do.

If you don't have the OEM Nav system, you'll get much better value in the aftermarket.

I got the OEM bluetooth in my R56 w/o Nav because I wanted the functionality of using the MFSW buttons and didn't want to monkey around aftermarket.
For 08 it seems like the OEM bluetooth is available w/o the armrest and cheaper so it makes it more attractive.

If your car didn't/doesn't come with OEM bluetooth I'd just buy headsets though. Cheaper and more effective in the long run.

I was at the dealer on Friday and he quoted me a price of $500. He said they would even come to my house to do the job. This was Nick Alexander in LA.
