R56 You've gotta love the MINIUSA 2008 Pricing.
You've gotta love the MINIUSA 2008 Pricing.
Motoringfile now has the 2008 pricing (link). No changes in base pricing and the Sports Suspension is now part of the Sports Package at $1,500 (Xenon is now a la carte).
2008 builds begin in December.

The 2008 models for the US start production in December. I imagine the ordering of '08s will depend on each dealer's current order queues. The only way to know for sure would be to call your local dealer (or whatever dealer you plan on ordering from).
Thanks for posting. Very interesting. My 2007 is in transit. I am suprised that they did not raise the prices on the base or the packages. That was my main reason for ordering an 07. I was sure there would be an increase. Oh well. It will be interesting to build an 08 to my 07 specs. I have a feeling there will be some increase, but not what I was expecting. Because I'll keep the car so long it will not be a big deal.
Either the numbers that Motoringfile listed are a bit off, or they don't have the current configurator prices memorized like I do. (Doing nothing but spec MINIs since July will do that to a person.)
Comments/Questions:
- The packages are/were $1400, so $1500 would be a $100 increase.
- I'm assuming the sport suspension only comes with the sport package on the S, but this isn't clear.
- If the cold weather package 'has gone up $50' then it'd be $350, not $500. More likely it's gone up $200.
- The cloth/leather was already $1000. The punch carbon/gravity tuscan was already $1500. The lounge leather, however was $1900 so $2000 would be a jump.
Update: Nevermind. They seem to have fixed some of the issues with the commentary.

Interesting that they are going to group the Sport suspension in the sports package, I guess that this is the way it should have been from the beginning. But I am glad I was able to skip the SP.
Hmmm, I glad I got xenons with my sport package instead of the sport suspension. It's a better deal IMO. Especially since I'll be throwing on a set of H&Rs soon!

I didn't get how Xenons were in the sport package. BMW sport packages usually include sport seats and sport suspension and larger wheels, IIRC. MINI should step up and offer larger brake kits as well in the sport package.
I was also surprised by the 2008 pricing and packagaing. I am in the same thought that the sports suspension should have been grouped w/ the sports package, and glad to see that it is. Had it been that way before, I may have ordered it (since I got DSC, SS, & Stripes, the upgrade to 17" wheels would have been minimal). Xenons I think should have went into the premium package - a nice feature, but not necessary for me. I do like how they look in the headlight housing thou, much more than the standard "spears".
The other package I would have considered was the Convenience w/ the MFSW...just seemed more appealing and a better value.
Still glad I ordered an '07 thou...couldn't have waited till Feb!

FWIW, for 2008 the sunroof will be $1,000 ($850 in 2007) as an a la carte option and the the Multi-Function steering wheel will $250 ($350 in 2007) as a stand alone. I have been debating whether to add the sunroof or not, since I live in Atlanta and our long summers are quite warm. At $1,000, my decision has been made. I already have a sunroof on my other car anyway.
how accurate are these prices that motoring file put out? i kinda wish i had the sport suspension with the sport package but i would have gotten the HIDs for sure so the price would have been more for me. plus, i can always upgrade the suspension relatively cheaply whereas HIDS are not cheap if i went oem.
as far as the USB goes, will that be able to be used to play an ipod like how the current ipod cable works? or will it just allow you to charge it... Also, no mention of auto up windows or not.
The USB works pretty much exactly like the iPod adapter, however you will need to get a special BMW cable ($80ish) to hook up your iPod to the USB port. There's a couple of threads over on MINI2.com from people who've got it in their late year '07s.
i think i know what you're talking about. if thats the case, then the USB does not work like the ipod adapter because from what i saw, the bmw cable is 2 parts, a usb part and a typical headphone/aux in jack. That means that its no different than charging your ipod with a car charger and playing it in your car via aux in.
hmm, i guess i was misinformed. Does the ipod play through the headphone jack though? and does the song info display in the car radio? IM just wondering because based on my experience with other cars with aux in, the aux in is no where near the clarity of an actual ipod dock and if the usb allows for control of the ipod but the audio still comes through the headphone jack then its nice but not that nice.
Yes, it does indeed work just like the iPod adapter does. The aux in part simply has something to do with tricking the system into playing DRM tracks I believe. However, it works (and apparently sounds) exactly like the OEM iPod adapter once you hook it up. I.e. you can control the iPod via the MFSW control buttons, see playlist, track, etc. info on the radio/nav display, etc.

Hmm... My Mini was born yesterday 10/18/2007 I'm wondering if I'll have the USB port?

hmm.. thats interesting. oh well, i wouldnt have gotten the bluetooth option anyway.
