R56 just installed DIY clear bra
just installed DIY clear bra
I got cheap clear bra kit from ebay and installed today.
actually, I ordered hood, front bumper and mirror but only installed hood and half of the front bumper.
The Hood was really easy to install. Only took about 20 min.
the front bumper was kind of disaster. it does not stick to bumper well
and hard to get rid of the bubble. spent about one hour and stopped.
I might try to install another half of front bumper tomorrow.
I only spent $35 shipped so I don't care if clear bra goes wrong

Wow - looking at the edges, the film looks pretty thick - did the directions/packaging mention the thickness?
Other than that, it looks good. If you're having adhesion problems on the bumper, try using a spray bottle with a water/isopropyl alcohol mixture in it. When you get the film where you want it, lift up part of the film and spray the water/alcohol in there, then lay the film back down and squeegee it out. The water/alcohol solution counteracts the water/soap solution that you use when positioning the film, so the film will stick in place.
As for the bubbles, some of those will actually go away with time, because the film is slightly air-permeable. If the surface underneath was clean, and you squeegeed it well, I wouldn't worry about the bubbles that are left. Just rub down the film with a soft cloth every day for the next few days to ensure that the film adheres to the paint as the bubbles collapse.

You can get it at the grocery store or any drug store. Most places carry 70% isopropyl alcohol solution, and that's what I mix 50-50 with distilled water to put in my sprayer. If for some reason you can only find 100% isopropyl alcohol, you can still use it, but I'd dilute one part alcohol with two parts water in that case.

I also tried to order it from them but they did not have pre-cut mini bras last week. Now, I will finish a half of front bumper bra
.
finally, Finished.
there was a little problem with fog light area and bottom of the bumper.
the pre-cut does not really fit so I have to cut and modified a little.
I could install red spot in the picture but my hair drier (more than 10 years old
) was broken so I just cut it and did not installed it.
the hood was easy to install but I won't recommend the bumper.
Hope it will last long

I purchased mine off of E-Bay also, I agree the lower bumper around the foglamps was a real pain and so was the hood scoop area, I just kept heating and stretching and adding water and in came out great! You really have to be in the right mindset to start because it is going to use every bit of patence you have
. All in all I think it was well worth it. I could not part with 600.00 dollars for the dealer to do it, Yes I am that cheap!
Yours looks great I think.

I put the order through. Its a pre-cut kit for the mini. Hood , bumper , and mirrors.
.I've never had any problem with inside of side mirrors before so I did not install it. good luck with installation

I don't know how long this bra will last.
by the way, when did you install yours? any problem yet?
just curious.
I installed the 3M Aeroguard product a couple weeks back. I was successful at installing the hood, and upper bumper. I gave up trying to install the film on the lower bumper, as the area around the headlights would not fit right, and kept falling off. I gave up before I was forced to kill something.
